River Place East reviews and highlights
- for the price it is a good deal
- the gym is spacious
- old apartment building but great location, great gym, close to monuments
River Place East
River Place is a great choice if you're looking to stay very close to the metro station and are looking for an economical rent rate. It has multiple housing options such as studios, 1-Bedroom, 2-bedroom, and penthouses. You could evaluate the sunlight direction to choose an apartment with more light. The basic studio layout is small but sufficient for 1 person.

Convenient Location - Good Value
River Place has affordable apartments if you’re comfortable living in a small studio with a small kitchen. Water, trash, gas, and electric are all included in the rent here but usually aren’t at other buildings.
Location is very convenient and amenities like pool and gym are nice but this isn’t a luxury building. Building seems secure and area is nice. Fire alarm goes off about once a month which is inconvenient. I’ve never had any pest issues in my unit.
Look diligently and a little early if you want a full sized fridge in a studio unit.

Excellent place for a first apartment!
I've been in the same apartment in this building since starting medical school, and it's been fantastic. It's really close to the Rosslyn metro, and it takes me about 15 minutes maximum to get to campus. Management is responsive and all of the staff I've met since moving have been great. Each unit is individually owned and rented, so there is variability in landlords. Overall really reasonably priced and worth what you pay for.

Great for the price, such kind staff.
My partner and I moved here as it's between GWU and his place of work. We love the building and its employees who are beyond amazing. The only issue is each unit is owned by a different landlord, so depending on who owns your unit you may run into issues (we've lived here two months and our oven hasn't been fixed). This certainly isn't the building's fault, though!

Cheap and Convenient
25~ min commute to GW Law. 7 min walk to Rosslyn metro. Serviced by Blue Orange and Silver lines so you have a train every few minutes. Furnished, great view of the Potomac, Reagan National if you get an apartment facing East.

Great community for your money
Really nice and neat apartment space! It is in a community with 3 other buildings, each with independent management. Because there are so many apartments here, a lot of other med students live here too. Rent is quite inexpensive and includes access to a very nice gym and pool, and there is a convenience store with lots of basic groceries! Really like it here!

Great Price for a Good Place
Very affordable and located near everything, Management can be a bit of a drag and living in a large complex isn't ideal but the rent is cheap enough to make up for it. Apartments are large studios, great if you don't have many things. Kitchen is a little small but lots of closet space, never feels crowded or uncomfortable. Very close to the Metro and the three main bridges into the city.

Great deal ($) but there are some small sacrifices
You couldn't ask for a better monetary deal, though I was lucky and knew my current landlord. The gym situation is sub-par (great facility but limited hours and terrible staff), and it's an inconvenience to have to pay for laundry/ do the laundry on a different floor.

Rosslyn Reviews
However, this has been a business district for ages. There is very little going on around here and many of the restaurants don’t even open on the weekends. But, that’s changing. So stay tuned!
(Also, I like living in Virginia because my vote counts for more here!)
If you have long legs, renting a bike is an option. If you are like me and 5'1'', renting a bike is an option for downhill rides.
There is a lot within walking distance in Rosslyn (think 20 min average from my apt): Barnes and Noble, shopping, Whole Foods, Trader Joe's (also on the Arlington loop shuttle from GU), public libraries, CVS, Target, Safeway, lots of restaurants.
Also close to dense populations of immigrant communities if you like Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean food.
Cons: Neighborhood shuts down after 5pm. Few restaurants in the neighborhood itself (this is getting better though). Concrete canyon effect because of the skyscrapers. Closest grocery store is an expensive Safeway.
