Dorchester House Apartments reviews and highlights
- very safe neighborhood
- well-maintained building
- great rooftop to hang out with great views
- nice gym in the building
- 24 hour reception and a very friendly doorman
- great location close to bus lines and bar neighborhoods
Great apartment, great location, great rooftop
As a newbie to DC Dorcester House is a great apartment in a great locations. Across the street from Meridian Hill Park, next door to Harris Teeter, and minutes from Adams Morgan! Also close by is U-street neighborhood and the Zoo. Apartments are wood floors, large, and well lit with lots of windows. Street parking is available and 1-time gym fee of $200. Borger could do more to enhance community and have more social gatherings. There is a great rooftop to hang out with great views. It's a bit pricey; I wouldn't recommend it for someone living alone necessarily - but only because of the price.

Love it
Great building! Great management. Great location. I've been here for 2 years and really love it. Management really responds promptly to questions and maintenance issues. It can be a little loud on 16th street sometimes, but that a city live. I will only move out when my husband and I buy a house in MD.

Older building in a nice neigborhood
Great Location, close to bus lines and the bar neighborhoods in Northwest. However, a bit of a walk to the metro, so you end up enclosed in NW. Very pretty neighborhood and very safe. Management of the building has a lot of little quirks and doesn't like to work with you. Also, it is an old building, so gym and laundry room, as well as units, are extremely out of date. For the rent I pay, I definitely should have ALL utilities included, which they found themselves a way to worm out of.

Overpriced
Although the location is great, the building is overpriced for what I am getting. The management is not efficient in its communication, and has overcharged us several times for submitting a check from someone else. Also, the gym is decent, but no AC.

Large Apartments, Good Location
This is a nice building, generally well maintained. Maintenance staff is prompt, front desk is very nice, gym is nice (included with one time payment of $200). Location is excellent. The apartments are very large - we have three people living comfortably in a 2 bedroom. The roof is also very nice, and there's a new patio area.

Great Location, Needs Better Management
Amazing location, next to a grocery store and a GREAT rooftop. The corporate management has had issues with payments and communication. On site management is understanding and very pleasant to deal with. We have issues with mice but pest control is usually very good about helping in a timely manner.

Dorchester - affordable value, but no luxury
The Dorchester has a lot going for it, not least of which is location (in Adams Morgan, across from Malcolm X park, right next to a Harris Teeter), but it's no luxury building. There is a great gym in the building, but you do have to pay an additional (one time) fee. Parking can be costly or a nightmare on the street. There's no pool. And of course, there's the apartments themselves. These are SPACIOUS apartments especially for the price. But they have aging parquet floors, thin walls (and young, noisy neighbors), old fashioned small kitchens (porcelain sinks, little counter space, no dishwasher), and no washer/dryers in unit (through the communal laundry room in the basement is decent).

Old, Rundown, Expensive but Great Location
If you want to be in walking distance to Adams Morgan, Columnia Heights or U Street, even Dupont this is a great location. Literally next door to a Harris Teeter. However, it is old & the rental units are out of date as well as dirty. Also no pool, but extremely nice rooftop.

Great place
I really love this place. Its clean, management is friendly, there is 24 hour reception and a very friendly doorman. It's not easy getting there from Georgetown, but we live 100ft from Harris Teeter's, a block away from Adams Morgan, we're across the street from Meridian Park, and they offer underground parking as an add on. Also, we are equidistant from the green, yellow and red lines, which is convenient for my husband for work.
I highly recommend.
