Love it!

I really love living in this apartment. I've been here for 3 years and I have no plans of leaving. The windows let in a lot of natural light and the area is pretty quiet. My unit is also really big, bigger than most have paying the same price.

Spacious apartments, no room for cars

My first impression of 521 St. Paul was that the apartments were huge and creatively laid out, but overpriced. If we hadn't found a three bedroom we wouldnt have been able to afford it. I say three bedroom but one of the rooms didnt even have windows, so I'm not sure you can technically call in a bedroom. The gym is awesome at first glance (in the basement in what was once the stables I believe) with tvs, floor space with mirrors, weights, kettlebells and treadmills, but could use more weight equipment (mostly bars). I also loved that it had a rooftop with tables and lounge chairs and a great view of the city! However, we did experience some problems after moving in. While our windows were huge and sunny, I wish they had bars on them, as we were on the first floor. We had to keep our blinds shut most of the time to keep passerby from looking in. Not having a real lobby or front desk caused some security and package issues. They finally created a package room after we had a few things stolen, but that didnt stop all of the thefts. There is a locking front door, but we had to email management twice about a stranger wandering around knocking on doors. You can call phones from the front box and let visitors in by pressing 9 which is very convenient. There is little to NO PARKING. I cannot stress this enough. Mt Vernon parking keeps getting progressively worse, and since apartment buildings are supposed to supply residents with parking, the city won't let you get a neighborhood parking pass. I've driven around for over an hour looking for a spot. They did follow up on apartment issues quickly, and you can request assistance online without having to call or email. Overall, I would recommend it if you can afford rent AND a parking spot in a garage ($100+/month).

Great size, packages were a problem

My roommates and I loved our modern spacious 2 floor 3 bed, 2 bath apartment! There was so much sunlight in our upstairs living area. Management is responsive and responsible but not present. Con: you must pick up packages from UPS customer service.

Mount Vernon has restaurants, bars, shops, and multiple grassy areas near the monument. It's a great place to walk around. It's a very communal space. Nearby schools are UB, UMD, MICA, and JHU Peabody. Bus transit near the monument. The Walters Art Museum is very close by. UB is about a 15 minute walk and 5 minute drive from 611 Park.
Area is nearby Mount Vernon, which is very charming. Good restaurants, nice walking area. If you are into night life, however, this apartment may not be for you. The area nearby the building is very quiet at night.
Great place to visit museums, restaurants, and historical monuments. Not too far from the law school, and the UMB Shuttle can get you to school in about 10 minutes
There isn’t too much near by in comparison to other locations in Baltimore, but it is in the middle of the city so it is easy to get places. There isn’t a grocery store nearby, which is probably the biggest con.
UMd Police presence is fairly high, so the area feels reasonably safe. Fairly well lit, and fairly heavily traveled given its location with UB and UMd.
Have only been offered crack once in two years.
This area of Baltimore is not necessarily super busy. The nightlife and restaurant scene is abysmal in this spot, but there are several, easy ways to get into Federal Hill or Fell's Point.

Additionally, this area is not known to be a super safe area of Baltimore, but since we are located so close to the school, there is constant security around. I have never felt unsafe walking to and from school and my apartment.
On the very south edge of Mt Vernon. Pretty quiet, some good restaurants/a few bars around. Easy to casually go out, or travel a bit for more aggressive nightlife. Less safe area about 1 block south, but very safe north.
Good bar/restaurant scene, right next to the train/bus station. Some crime but can't help that.
