Love it here!!

Really responsive maintenance team, beautifully furnished apartment, central location (not too hectic but also accessible to school and bars), secure and safe -- it's perfect!

Overall Satisfied

I have enjoyed living at 2116 Chestnut! The management has always been quick to respond to my issues. The gym is very nice and oftentimes empty. It's close to bikes and buses to get to CHOP. Despite what others said, I thought it was very quiet.

Things I didn't love are living in a studio there is only one air vent and so it is hard to control the temperature in my apartment in the summer/winter. Also studios dont come with some amenities like one bedrooms do.

Easy, low drama, great building

2116 is clean, with beautiful views, market rate rents, and reasonably good staff. The gym is great and not overcrowded. The apartments are vey quiet (never hear any neighbors except people in hallway).

Unit facing East - plenty of sunlight

Maintenance is great. Have had to contact them for a leak under the kitchen sink and excessive rattling noise from the washing machine; in both cases the team was quick to respond and fix the issue.

It's nice to have a bunch of classmates in the building as well.

Great apartment

Lots of Wharton folks (also walking distance to other Wharton apartments), incredible views, renovated units, and responsive management / quickly fulfilled maintenance requests.

Fitler Square is really cute and homey. It's around a lot of other medical students, so it's a good social area and has an easy commute to school. It's also great if you like running because it's right off the trail on the river. Food is good but a bit homogenous (compared to West Philly especially.

Locust and spruce feel a lot safer than market or chestnut at night. Very residential streets with beautiful brownstones. Also close to dog park and the river walkway. About 10min walk from the popular buildings and 25min walk to huntsman

Love the neighborhood! If you're interested in being close to the center of the city and being able to actively explore Philly (for a not extreme price) it was great! Also was easy to get to my school - University of Pennsylvania. 15-20 mins to get to school by transit; 30 mins walking.

That being said I did notice that most students lived on the side of the school!

The beautiful tree-filled neighborhood is full of families, dogs, and students - it is safe, full of great restaurants, and boasts an equally quick walk to both University City and downtown attractions. The immediate access to the Schuylkill River Trail also can't be beat. While we lack apartment amenities, we love living in a historical brownstone that has charm and character. This is an area where you can live as a student and stay for another 20 years after that.

Great neighborhood, though expensive for Philly. If you're a Penn grad student who wants to be near campus but not on campus, it's ideal for distance from school and the Rittenhouse area. Lots of parks and residents are friendly.
There are residents without housing in the neighborhood. They're good people and new residents should be respectful of them and their belongings.

The neighborhood is very residential. Not a ton of bars/restaurants which can be annoying if you just want to pick up food after a busy day, but it's right near the park and Skukyhill river trail which is great for exercising and getting outdoors. Close to Trader Joe's and South Street market which is convenient

Center City is a fantastic area. I live on the northern side of it, which is the more financial/industrial/apartment building side. I live 2 blocks from a busy Trader Joe's and inches away from tons of great restaurants, corner stores, and shops. It's close to Rittenhouse Square, a swanky square block with a tiny park in the middle, as well as the Schuylkill River trail (great for running and biking) and the Art Museum area. Multiple major bus lines slice through this neighborhood, making it quite easy to get anywhere when you don't want to walk or bike.
