Would live here again

When looking for an apartment went in with must-haves, would loves, and cannot haves. After clicking on hundreds of apartment ads I thought I would never get everything I wanted in an apartment. However, the apartment has everything I could want and more. Tall ceilings, large windows, spacious kitchen with plenty of cabinet space, large walk-in closet, in-unit washer and dryer. There is also a gym at no extra cost, 24/7 valet parking, and a small dog park. The apartment building is secure with key fob access and someone is always available. I've had a few issues with my a/c going out, and my washer not always draining, but the maintenance is very responsive and polite. Any apartment you look at will have its trouble spots, but overall my time at Sail Cloth has been wonderful and I would recommend it to anyone interested in having pets and wants something between a studio and a one-bedroom

The Sail Cloth Factory Review

The apartments have a lot of character with the bricks and high ceilings. It is very nice to have the rooftop, small gym, and printers.

Sailcloth

I lived at Sailcloth my first two years of law school and found it to be a great place for a student. Many medical, dental, and law students live in the building. It is walking distance to the UMB campus, which was the main reason I chose it. I loved the layout of my apartment, and the valet parking is a huge plus. Both management and maintenance are incredibly responsive and quick to help.

Sail Cloth Factory

The main convenience of living here is the proximity to the hospital, but I really, really wished I would have just paid an extra $200-300 for a similar unit in the Zenith or Redwood or literally any other building within walking distance of the hospital. There is one property manager and one maintenance person for the entire building. The property manager is nice, but very clearly overwhelmed, often sending inappropriately emotionally charged emails to the tenant listserv. The maintenance person is capable but also can take several days for nonemergent issues since he is responsible for not just this building, but other buildings run by the management company. The apartment itself is newly renovated and has more than enough space for a single person or couple, but I face MLK Blvd, and it is incredibly loud at all hours of the day. I don't think I get more than 1-2 nights per week of not being woken up by the traffic. Sometimes it feels like the motorcycles that regularly go up and down MLK are literally inside my apartment - I have to pause conversations, or movies, etc, and this is all with the windows closed (they are not able to be opened, by the way). I can also here unwanted noise from my neighbors, but nothing much louder on that front than other places I've lived. I also don't feel very safe - there's only 2 CCTVs that I'm aware of, one at the entrance and one in the package room. This was after I was told there were cameras all over the building. There's a dog park which is great, but that is definitely not a reason to pick this place over any others. Overall, I would definitely not recommend living here over any of the other buildings in the neighborhood.

Sail Cloth Review

Location is very convenient to campus (2 blocks away). Other benefits are a locker system for packages and a small gym open 24/7. Parking is covered underneath the building, and it is operated on a valet system which has its pros and cons. Management and maintenance are great and responsive.

Convenient location, decent housing

Very conveniently located across the street from the hospital - commute is about 3 minutes walking. The management is very responsive and all requests for maintenance is typically completed within 24-36 hours. The loft is sufficient space for a single person but can feel tight with more than 1 person (there's no personal space). Small gym is located in the building - a set of weights, treadmill, bike. Very pet friendly. Many residents and UMB students live here. Campus police is nearby and offer some security in the area.

Quiet, Safe Apartment Downtown

I enjoy living in this apartment building. It is safe with a graet location and very quiet. Mostly filled with med students. I can't see myself living here long-term, however, because the price is high and there are plenty of larger apartment buildings/houses to reside in the city of Baltimore for much cheaper.

Mount Vernon has restaurants, bars, shops, and multiple grassy areas near the monument. It's a great place to walk around. It's a very communal space. Nearby schools are UB, UMD, MICA, and JHU Peabody. Bus transit near the monument. The Walters Art Museum is very close by. UB is about a 15 minute walk and 5 minute drive from 611 Park.
Area is nearby Mount Vernon, which is very charming. Good restaurants, nice walking area. If you are into night life, however, this apartment may not be for you. The area nearby the building is very quiet at night.
Great place to visit museums, restaurants, and historical monuments. Not too far from the law school, and the UMB Shuttle can get you to school in about 10 minutes
There isn’t too much near by in comparison to other locations in Baltimore, but it is in the middle of the city so it is easy to get places. There isn’t a grocery store nearby, which is probably the biggest con.
UMd Police presence is fairly high, so the area feels reasonably safe. Fairly well lit, and fairly heavily traveled given its location with UB and UMd.
Have only been offered crack once in two years.
This area of Baltimore is not necessarily super busy. The nightlife and restaurant scene is abysmal in this spot, but there are several, easy ways to get into Federal Hill or Fell's Point.

Additionally, this area is not known to be a super safe area of Baltimore, but since we are located so close to the school, there is constant security around. I have never felt unsafe walking to and from school and my apartment.
On the very south edge of Mt Vernon. Pretty quiet, some good restaurants/a few bars around. Easy to casually go out, or travel a bit for more aggressive nightlife. Less safe area about 1 block south, but very safe north.
Good bar/restaurant scene, right next to the train/bus station. Some crime but can't help that.
