University Village Apartments reviews and highlights
- well-maintained and spacious apartments
- conveniently located 15 minutes from the airport and from Santa Monica Beach
- best option for families and married couples
- great place with an affordable price
- love the BBQ areas
Close to Essentials and Affordable
The complex is close to major bus lines (SMBBB 8, 17 and Culver City 6/Rapid 6) as well as grocery stores within walking distance.
While price does go up every year, it is much more affordable than living in Westwood and/or nearby places in West Los Angeles.
It would be nice if they updated their apts.

The only saving grace: location.
Inexcusably thin walls floors and ceiling, rough old industrial carpet, right next to 405 with windows so thin you'd think you're standing in the middle of the freeway, rat and mice infestation, insecure key card entry to front door, poor plumbing (constantly shutting off water for repairs), major leaks causing extreme water damage are common. Garages are too small for most family sized vehicles despite it being family housing. Laundry rooms are always dirty and the machines are old and ruin clothes. UCLA hates its grad students, especially the ones that can't afford LA rents and are forced to live in student housing. UCLA can afford to make significant renovations but refuses to. Management is prejudiced and unresponsive.

Run Down
Apartments are very run down: cabinets falling apart, chipped p-lam countertops, constant plumbing issues. The windows are so dirty on the outside glass that you can barely see out; management states they are cleaned every year but it clearly hasn't occurred in a very long time. The windows are also very old and extremely difficult to open. If there was ever a fire or need for evacuation it would be impossible for kids to escape through the windows.
When we moved in the apartment was dirty and had several unattended maintenance issues that took months to resolve. Management is unhelpful and rude. The laundry rooms are disgusting and the machines are frequently broken.
The grounds are very nice, but landscaping uses leaf blowers early in the morning which cause air and noise pollution into open windows.

safe place
Basically, it is a safe place. The size of the assigned parking garage may vary and may be small, so larger vehicles may not be able to park there.

Price and convenience
The apartments are dated but you really can’t beat the price/ convenience / location. Especially if you have children

Great space for families as mine
Great for families with little kids as me. Many places to play for them. The apartments have a good space. I been in housings of other universities before and this one is my favorite one.

Family housing
UCLA family housing was very convenient for me moving to LA from out of state. I've stayed here for a second year since my apartment is nice, the location is reasonably convenient, and the price is decent for the area. My main complaints are that UCLA Housing is often unresponsive to resident concerns, particularly during the pandemic, and that there is a huge problem of package theft.

A great community for families with small children
This is a great gated community for families, especially those with small children. There are lots of playgrounds and outdoor space for them to play and socialize. The garden plots are also great if you can get a spot. The only downside are the communal laundry rooms where you have to pay for each use. There is also an ongoing issue with package theft and there appears to be no resolution.

Really well priced and quiet
Definitely better than anything else you'd get within 10 miles of UCLA for this price. Quiet and good amount of storage.
