Great if you want to live downtown and come from a big city

Coming from NYC, it was amazing to get so much space for relatively little money, but YMMV depending on where you come from. The apartment itself was very nice - floor to ceiling windows in the living room, private bathroom for each bedroom. The building was pretty responsive about most things. There really were very few maintenance issues at all. Also, the gym sucks if you're into lifting weights. I'd definitely live in the building/apt again by itself, but wouldn't live in downtown LA again. It was great for one year to get my bearings and be close to school without a car (again a bonus coming from NYC), but I'd much rather be near the beach and nightlife of Venice/Santa Monica/Weho etc. and have a car. If you're from NYC or another big city, you'll fit right in (and be amazed at the value), but if you're not, it may be strange to find out how sprawling LA is and how unconcentrated DTLA is.

All told, I had a great experience in the building/neighborhood as a transplant, but will probably be moving out to the west side now that I know more.

Good location, safe, quiet, close to campus

Pros: The South Park building has great value for the price. Whole Foods, CVS, Target, Starbucks, and other great restaurants are all less than a 10min walk from the building. This building is also only a 10min drive from campus. There are a handful of USC students (including Marshall MBAs) living in this building so it's cool to run into them in the elevator sometimes. If you are bringing a car, the parking garage is also very secure, although it's extra $ per month for parking. Guest parking is $10 per 24hrs which is much cheaper than nearby lots if you have guests coming over. There's also a Chipotle on the ground floor so that can be pretty dangerous if you like burritos.

Cons: Because it's pet friendly, it smells like dog pee right outside the lobby sometimes. Lately, the building's fire alarm has been setting off false alarms and it can be quite irritating, but this doesn't happen frequently at all. Can't think of any other cons.

Highly recommend

South Park is a great, safe building in a good location. The building is walking distance to many of the downtown hotspots and is only a ~10 minute drive to campus. The building is well taken care of and I've never had any problems with management.

Highly Recommend

I would highly recommend South Park by Windsor. The building is in a great location - very walkable and only a 15 minute drive to campus. The management is great as are the residents and it is a very secure building which was a big priority for me when moving to downtown.
