Close to VA campus
Management is very friendly and responsive. Laundry in apartment, spacious bedrooms with huge windows. Fireplace in living room. Access to a small gym and two pools included with rent. Great deal for the price.

Great apartment option!
This apartment complex has bad reviews online (Yelp/google) but I've had nothing short of a great experience living in Stoneridge! They switched management companies in Summer, 2016 and are in the process of renovating all of the units (granite/stainless, etc!). Unfortunately, this means that you won't find an apartment at the same price we paid (A 3 bed/2 bath starts at $2200 now) Utilities aren't included but are about $100/month/person. Parking is free and it's not difficult to find a spot right outside your apartment. They also have valet trash that picks up trash right outside of your door every night! It is right next to campus and there are beautiful walking trails behind the complex along the Potomac River.

Not unless you're desperate
This is a great place to live due to its proximity to GWU's nursing school. Honestly, that's about it. The office staff are rude except for one guy who senses when his coworkers are being unnecessarily short with people and tries to compensate by being even nicer. You can tell he's really trying to counteract. If you move in on a Friday, try to start your utilities before you start to unload your vehicle. Otherwise, you'll catch a $50 fine for not immediately changing utilities over to your name. I'll warn you because the front office won't.
In January, several people with out of state license plates received tickets for not having county property tax stickers on their vehicles. When I called Loudon County treasurer's office, I was told that I was given a warning back in September. Other people were given warnings as well. The problem is, nobody received a physical warning. No windshield ticket. No contact with Loudon County Sheriff's office. The identifying information for our vehicles was taken down and a warning was placed in the system, but there was no notification whatsoever. For context, all of the ticket recipients are from out of state and the so-called warnings were issued within two weeks of moving in. I'm concerned that the front office is tipping off the sheriff's office because the tickets and warnings coincide with move in dates and the beginning of a new semester.
As for the apartment: it takes between 6-8 minutes to get warm water (both summer and winter now) in the shower and the sink, the tiles in my bathroom have gaping holes in them (caulk was never filled back in), the maintenance guys used a crowbar to access the water heater closet and damaged the door frame, the microwave only partially heats food, and the list continues on.

Stoneridge review
The management is not great. Somewhat difficult to work with but it is so close to campus and cheap. To me, these things weighed out over the management being poor.
