Great but sometimes noisy
Very nice place to live but the building was not built with sound in mind. You can hear noise from your neighbors next door, below you, and above you. Especially the footsteps of the person living above you.

Best Place to live in Chapel Hill
I have zero complaints about living at the Birkshire. It is in walking distance to Whole Foods, Trader Joes, Ulta, Pets Mart, Staples, and many food options. Having that access as well as being 9 minutes away from Kenan-Flagler and 6 minutes away from the heart of Franklin, I would highly suggest living here. Maintenance requests are always completed day of and the front desk is always willing to help. Safety on the building is wonderful and having access to each parking garage level through each apartment floor is extremely convenient.

Fantastic Experience
Great community, great location. Brand new -- opened in 2017, and there is another apartment building opening nearby. One of the most urban buildings you can live in here. The apartments are connected by interior hallways, so you can go to the gym or mailbox at 1am without walking outside. Located 450ft from Whole Foods, with many other shops and restaurants within walking distance. Most people drive, but the D bus line is pretty convenient too. Very pet friendly. Floor plans are very well designed; they don't have awkward hallways that waste space. Large common area where many group project meetings are held. Management also holds free food and drink events once per month.

Berkshire is awesome
Berkshire has been the best apartment complex for me. It’s spacious and clean. We have a pool, games, grills, ample study rooms and tables and free coffee! They also do free events every month and management has been really good. The best part is the location. Walking distance to Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s as well as stores and take out. I highly recommend it even over the Morgan which is way too remote for me.

Premium Price, Quality Apartments
The Berkshire is a great option for graduate students who are ok paying a little extra for a more premium living arrangement. The apartments are clean, new, and well-built. The amenities are great (gym, pool, several working areas) and the management is fairly responsive. The apartment is a great option for folks who do not want to solely be around graduate students, as the building is comprised of a diversity of tenants.

Love Berkshire!
Brand new, luxury apartment. Perfect layout for a couple with an open floor plan and large closet. Location is unbeatable right next to Whole Foods, Trader Joes and restaurants.

Great Amenities!
Berkshire Chapel Hill is an expensive place to live. It has great amenities (study area, gym, TVs, ping pong, pool table, shuffle board, and coffee machine in community lobby) and looks modern, but was built using cheap materials. The appliances are bottom of the line, the elevators and doors frequently malfunction, and dog relief areas are not in ideal locations. Additionally, details were overlooked: garage floors and stairwells are not numbered and the treadmill TVs remain non-functioning. Overall, it's in a good location next to Whole Foods and the apartments are nicely configured but it's expensive and corners were cut during construction.

Great!!!
The building is great! I love the parking situation because you get covered garage parking (monitored by a garage entry pass), and if you have guests, there is room for them to park as well. The units are brand new, and there are different layouts to choose from. The amenities are unparalleled - pool with outdoor grill and firepit, gym, shuffleboard, coffee machine, and more. However, the thermostat is one of those programmable ones so it takes some getting used to. Also, while the walls are fine, I can always hear the people above me prancing around and using their garbage disposal.
Location - the building is located in the Whole Foods shopping center and is near good restaurants and a movie theater. It is mostly quiet with the exception of the occasional fire engine that goes by. It is not far from downtown Franklin St. or school.
Management - the team is awesome. They are responsive, and the maintenance staff always does their best to fix issues (which have been minimal).

Great Location! Very Nice.
Berkshire Chapel Hill is a great location. We love the close proximity to Whole Foods, Trader Joes and restaurants. It's not within walking distance of campus, but it is within walking distance of shopping. The facilities are very nice and offers really great amenities (pool, gym, coffee). I highly recommend this location if you want a nice place to live that does not have undergrads (21 and up facility). It's less than a 10 minute drive to campus and a 5 minute drive to Franklin. You can't beat the location from a convenience perspective and there is free parking.
