Columbia plaza

Management is pretty responsive to complaints. The building is kept up really well but the amenities are older.

Columbia Plaza Review

I really like the location and size of my apartment. I am 6 minute walk from work at GW Hospital and I have a ton of space for me and my cats. I also like that utilities are included. The negatives would be that maintenance is very unresponsive for nonemergent issues, the laundry is in the basement and a lot of the machines do not work, and they misinformed me about when the garage was going to start to be worked on and will be under construction for a year and I was not notified until less than a week before it started.

Fair price for the neighborhood, basic amenities

This is a no-frills apartment, best for those who want to save money and live close to the university or GW Hospital. It has good square footage, floor plan, light, and a balcony. It does not have updated amenities and AC/heating are by the season, so it can get quite warm when the seasons change and the AC is not on. Amenities (gas, electricity, water) are included which is nice. There is a gym, which is very basic. The biggest issue is that it overlooks a highway and so it is very loud, which makes it difficult to enjoy the nice weather and balcony. The view of the Kennedy Center and sunset is very nice, though. Just a few minutes walk from the monuments, Georgetown waterfront, and metro.

Best value apartments in Foggy Bottom

I lived at Columbia Plaza during my undergraduate studies at GW thirty years ago. I came back again for graduate studies at GW Law.

There are so many pluses with these apartments.

Pros:
All utilities are included.
Prices are extremely reasonable for the area.
Apartments are HUGE.
Balconies are also huge and very private.
Huge walls of windows in most units, with a sliding window door to balcony.
Views are great for most units.
Building management is very nice and they take care of everything you need. They will even change light bulbs for you.
There is a small gym included, and laundry in the buildings.

Cons:
Hard to think of any, but I guess the lacking of windows in many units can be annoying.
There are large window doors going to the balcony, but the screens they provided don't really fit the entire door so not great for keeping out bugs.
Units facing 23rd street do get a lot of noise.

Love it, highly recommend it!

Good location for price

The buildings are old, but fine. Maintenance responds decently quickly. Slow elevators. Large spaces for the cost. Utilities included is nice. Good location close to campus for the cost too. Gym isn't super fancy but it's adequate. No pool or rooftop access.

Great for School

I enjoy the square feet for the price and it's within easy walking distance of GW and the metro. I've had no real issues besides a very small cockroach issue that was solved quickly.

Management is fine unless you have a problem, then they are difficult

I have lived in my unit for 6 weeks, and I have been dealing with a cockroach infestation since the first night. Over the past 6 weeks, I have deal with cockroaches crawling in my fridge and bathtub, on the walls, and on my kitchen counter. I have seen at least 10 cockroaches a week, mostly alive, and that’s only when I am home. I reported every incident to the leasing office. They’ve scheduled me for 5 weekly treatments with their general exterminator as well as an extensive actisol treatment with a professional exterminator, and they resealed the baseboards. Thus far, it has not made any different.

Lots of pretty row homes, walking distance to many restaurants, grocery stores, and my school. Lots of trees and a dog park near-by. Overall, very pretty and scenic to walk through, and also close to other neighborhoods and essential stores.
I like living in Foggy, it's easy to get to school but also is close to Georgetown, which is fun for food and shopping. The northern part of Foggy (near GW) is about 10 minute walk to Dupont too, which is great.
Short walk to Georgetown, West End, and Dupont Circle. Many restaurants nearby and close to metro so you can get to anywhere in the city conveniently.
Nice to be so close to school. Short walk from the mall and other tourist destinations. Bar/restaurant/night life scene leaves a lot to be desired.
It is really close to campus so a lot of GW folks live here! You can reach a lot of places on public transit.
Edge of Foggy Bottom bordering Georgetown - very safe and peaceful!
I personally enjoy the quietness of the neighborhood and its location within a close walking distance of campus, Georgetown, the water, and convenience/grocery stores. The neighborhood is also very safe, I am a woman in my early 20's and I have never felt unsafe walking home late at night near my apartment.
Foggy Bottom is a great place to live given the proximity to the law school. It's also within walking distance of Georgetown and Dupont Circle which are fun places to go out with friends and classmates. It's also has lots of bike racks for the Capital Bikeshare nearby, and the Foggy Bottom metro stop is a few blocks up the street.
