Management is fine unless you have a problem, then they are difficult

I have lived in my unit for 6 weeks, and I have been dealing with a cockroach infestation since the first night. Over the past 6 weeks, I have deal with cockroaches crawling in my fridge and bathtub, on the walls, and on my kitchen counter. I have seen at least 10 cockroaches a week, mostly alive, and that’s only when I am home. I reported every incident to the leasing office. They’ve scheduled me for 5 weekly treatments with their general exterminator as well as an extensive actisol treatment with a professional exterminator, and they resealed the baseboards. Thus far, it has not made any different.

A bit pricey but can't beat the location for convenience.

I have enjoyed living here and the rent is a bit high but makes sense for the area. I have a studio and it's plenty big. Another big perk is that I don't need a cosigner as a law Student (also true for graduate students). Would recommend if you prioritize convenience and want utilities other than Internet included in your rent.

Good grad student housing

While I pay more in rent than some of my peers, it still feels reasonable for living alone in Foggy Bottom. I don't have great views from my windows, but it's a spacious apartment with room for a small living area and dining table. The front desk staff are very nice and recognize you if you visit frequently.

Columbia Plaza Apartments

The apartment is a good size/price (comparable to the area), a great location in regards to proximity to the law school (especially in your 1L year I recommend staying close to campus). Also close to the Foggy Bottom metro (~ 5 min walk), Whole Foods (~ 5 min walk), and Trader Joes (~10-15 minute walk). Overall a nice apartment for price and location.

Quiet and Comfortable Place to Live

As a law student, my apartment is the place where I go to unwind after a long day and do my readings for class. Columbia Plaza is a quiet community that allows me to live and study undisturbed. The fact that that have communal heating and air conditioning is a little annoying, but apart from that it is an excellent place in which to live as a student.

Older building but affordable for square footage

I spend more than most at Columbia plaza because I upgraded to a larger, upgraded one bedroom. I have a very large walk in closet and plenty of space for my partner and I to both work from home. The building is older without the newer amenities (pool) but it’s worth the price for the square footage, proximity to GW Law, and utilities included. I also pay extra to park my car in the garage parking (another $200/month). It is in Foggy Bottom so there is not much night life or trendy restaurants nearby

Great location in terms of being close to school. Very safe. Has a gym. Many apartments have balconies. Good management, clean. Some pest problems (roaches).

Lots of pretty row homes, walking distance to many restaurants, grocery stores, and my school. Lots of trees and a dog park near-by. Overall, very pretty and scenic to walk through, and also close to other neighborhoods and essential stores.
I like living in Foggy, it's easy to get to school but also is close to Georgetown, which is fun for food and shopping. The northern part of Foggy (near GW) is about 10 minute walk to Dupont too, which is great.
Short walk to Georgetown, West End, and Dupont Circle. Many restaurants nearby and close to metro so you can get to anywhere in the city conveniently.
Nice to be so close to school. Short walk from the mall and other tourist destinations. Bar/restaurant/night life scene leaves a lot to be desired.
It is really close to campus so a lot of GW folks live here! You can reach a lot of places on public transit.
Edge of Foggy Bottom bordering Georgetown - very safe and peaceful!
I personally enjoy the quietness of the neighborhood and its location within a close walking distance of campus, Georgetown, the water, and convenience/grocery stores. The neighborhood is also very safe, I am a woman in my early 20's and I have never felt unsafe walking home late at night near my apartment.
Foggy Bottom is a great place to live given the proximity to the law school. It's also within walking distance of Georgetown and Dupont Circle which are fun places to go out with friends and classmates. It's also has lots of bike racks for the Capital Bikeshare nearby, and the Foggy Bottom metro stop is a few blocks up the street.
