Pretty good for the price, next to metro
great location next to the metro, in a nice neighborhood. the management company is generally helpful. I would recommend the building but it's not mind-blowing. We've had mice.

Calvert House
I've lived in Calvert House for 1.5 years, and it's been a good experience overall. It's an older apartment building, so some of the appliances and cabinetry are a little dated, but management and maintenance are typically pretty responsive to any problems. It's right next to the Woodley Park metro station, which is very helpful for my commute and getting around during bad weather. It's across the street from Woodley Park restaurants, and it's only a 15-minute walk from Adams Morgan and a 25-minute walk from Dupont Circle.

Close to the metro for easy access
I call this place my 'launching pad' because it gets me everywhere I need to go. Right next to the metro and bus stops so I can easily get downtown quick. Also near the McDonalds and Chipotle for food on the go! The apartment building is nice and quite well equipped. The biggest hassle is having guests over because they need to be signed in at certain times. I will continue to live here as long the the status quo remains the same. Splitting with a roommate for now.

Great place to live
Everything has been great so far. Wonderful location and people, only complaint is no dishwasher. Moved here from NYC a few months ago and the transition has been easy due to the overall location and walkability to Dupont Circle and other places - overall great

Just awesome
This studio is huge! We have a separate kitchen, and we managed to create a space for the bedroom in the living room by hanging a tapestry.
We have a balcony that gives access to the private BBQ of the building, which is awesome for diner or party.
The gym is clean, I go almost everyday.
And the rooftop has a view on the Washington monument... wow!

Nice building, we got an exceptional unit
Building is rent-controlled and most residents have been renting for decades. We lucked into a beautiful, newly-renovated unit that is fairly below market price. Location is amazing (next to the metro and several major bus routes).

Excellent and Affordable
The Calvert House is an excellent place to live. For about $2100, you can rent a spacious (850 sqft) cat friendly one-bedroom apartment that is within 50ft of the redline. Even better, the Woodley Park circulator picks up 100ft from your door and will provide you quick access to the green/yellow lines in Columbia Heights. Management is also very responsive to resident needs, and the apartment is very secure because the building has someone at the front desk 24 hours 7 days a week. If you have kids, the building feeds into some of Washington's best schools. If you are a runner, the Rock Creek trails are located 200 ft from the front door. This apartment is in an excellent location.
The only downsides to living at the Calvert House are the small gym, parking is not included with rent, appliances and decor are dated, and several college kids have taken residence in the building, which makes for a noisy night. But, for the price, you wont find a better place to live.
