Excellent value, quiet neighborhood
We love living at Lake of the Hills. It is a relatively small property, so you can make a personal connection with the owner and the staff. It is a quiet property on a small lake. While the exterior is not very impressive, the interior feels very homey. It feels removed from the campus environment, but is only a 10 minute drive and 20 minute bus ride to school. Thick walls, in-unit wash/dryer, golf course on-site, outdoor pools, and proximity to Costco and Meijer all make it a very good place to live for a couple or family. It would also be a good fit for someone who doesn't want to feel like they are at school or in the city all the time.

Peaceful, Updated Interiors
I firmly believe that this is one of the best value apartments in the whole East Lansing area. Having owned a house before moving here, I was very picky about where I wanted to live. We were looking for something that was pet-friendly, close to stores, close to parks, and away from undergrads. We got exactly that here at Lake of the Hills! Residents get discounts at the golf course onsite and have multiple pools within the complex. It is very quiet and peaceful. The residents here are a mixture of people in their late twenties, older couples, and just a few families.
My only complaint is that our unit has exclusively north-facing windows. This makes it hard during the winter; you'll have to get out of the house to soak up the sun! Fortunately, that's not too hard with easy access to campus, local coffee shops, and great biking/running trails!
