You get what you pay for
There is no laundry connections in the least expensive one bedroom but there is a laundry room attached to the leasing office building that is 24hrs. The "Gym" has 4 cardio machines and 1 cable machine as a women I don't feel comfortable using it alone. The mailroom is great. My packages have never been stolen. I have access to two bus stops for the Tiger Trails and the city bus which is great. Honestly, this complex is good but the price is not feasible for most graduate students.

Decent
The apartments are decent. They are clean and I haven't had any pests problems in the one-bedrooms, however, parking is TERRIBLE. There is rarely places to park by your apartment.

5/10
The only reason my rating is this high is because there are worse apartment complexes in Baton Rouge - I know because I've seen them. The Retreat has its problems and the apartments themselves don't really knock it out of the park aesthetically, but on the whole it's not that bad. You can actually get ahold of the staff when your washer breaks down or whatever. Parking is horrible at nights and when it's raining (one portion of the lot floods), but the garbage is always collected on time, and they do try to keep the place looking as nice as possible, albeit with minimum effort. In the end, you could be doing a lot worse than the Retreat at Brightside for the same price, but the only way you could do better is by paying nearly double the monthly rent.

Retreat
The one bedroom apartments with the washer and dryer are nice on the inside. The issues are there aren't enough parking, so if you come home late you will have to park far away from your apartment. Also, people let their pets poop everywhere. Its overall a decent place.
