930 Poydras Apartments

I live in a townhouse unit, which is a rare find, especially for a downtown, large scale apartment complex. It is a bit pricey, but I find it worth it for the size of the unit, location (walking distance from the school, French Quarter, CBD), and quality of the complex. It can get loud because you're right by the Superdome/Smoothie King Center and close to a music venue, but that's not constant.

930 Poydras Building - Solid choice!

I live at 930 Poydras Apartments, which is located in the heart of the central business district (CBD) and only 2 blocks away from the Superdome (home to the New Orleans Saints football team). I absolutely love our location and the proximity to a grocery store, restaurants, and local downtown entertainment. Although traffic can be terrible during rush hour or major events, that is to be expected and typically the traffic resolves quickly. Our building is now at full capacity and all of the residents are super nice. I picked this housing building because of the leasing manager, Ashley, who really sold the building during our initial meeting and has remained super responsive to all of my residential needs. Additionally, there are a lot of Tulane and LSU Health Sciences affiliates within the building. The only negatives I have about the complex are 1) the building is aging a little in comparison to the 3 newer complexes one block over - it is still a nice building, just not brand new; 2) there is no built in storage in the bathroom; and 3) the kitchen is completely white and there is no ventilation hood for the smoke over the stove so I am constantly trying to keep the cabinetry clean. Parking is an extra $205 charge for unreserved, covered garage parking, but paying for parking seems consistent throughout all buildings within the area. The walk to Tulane Hospital is approximately 10-12 minutes along an easy path.

Love

Absolutely love living at 930 Poydras. Sleek, clean, and safe building in a very good location - close to the school, <2 blocks from Rouses, very close to many restaurants, etc. Units have 10 ft ceilings; floor-to-ceiling windows, which allow for a lot of sunlight (crucial for how much time we spend inside studying); open floorplan; etc. Overall building and my unit are very quiet imo. Parking (floors 1-8) is directly under the apartment floors (9-21) with direct elevator access, costs $205/month (average, on top of rent). Lobby is on floor 9, which also has an outdoor area with a small pool and sunbeds. Trash shoot on each floor. Water and trash included in rent, have to pay for Wifi and electricity on your own. Biggest pitfalls are the small closet (some pricier units have more closet space than mine) and the European 2-in-1 washer/dryer, which is in most units (mine), but they have upgraded to a normal, separate washer and dryer in some units, which I believe have slightly higher rent. The 2-in-1 is rather annoying tbh - can only handle really small loads and the "dryer" sucks so you pretty much have to air-dry everything - but if you can get over that factor (or get a unit with a normal washer and dryer), the apartment and building overall is wonderful imo and I really do love living here!!
