Roaches, bad heating, broken washing machines, stolen packages, incompetent management
I signed an 18 month lease to this apartment on 275 on the park. I was attracted to the apartment thanks to its good location, proximity to school, and efforts to upgrade utilities. HOWEVER, none of these outweigh the fact that the entire apartment is filled with roaches. It's been especially bad on my floor, and they will certainly spread throughout the building as time passes. Within a month here, I had seen somewhere between 3-5, and 10 on the day I discovered their nest. I have killed many of them, but they still persist. I had spent about 200 USD on my own roach killing methods, and it took about 20 hours of effort with help to reduce to about 1 roach a day. They're still here.
My apartment was also lucky in some ways and unlucky in others. Thanks to my location in the shadow, I had no need for air conditioning throughout the summer. I cannot guarantee that it is the same for all the apartments, but at least I never had to turn it on even in 100 degree weather. HOWEVER, as I try to use the heater, it's becoming very clear that the heater does not do the job.
The washing machine room also has at least 5 machines malfunctioning on a given day too, and they're shared by at least 3 buildings, which are all owned by Oro. Good luck getting your clothes cleaned, and some people just fill them with dirt.
Stolen Packages. I've had at least 3 packages go missing in this apartment. I'd like to say that it's only because of a bad neighbor, but your packages are all left on the floor in the mail room. They stack them sky high and spread them all over the place like a mess, making it impossible to find anything. It's very easy to just go in and take someone else's package or just be unable to find your package. Management will not help you with this.
Lastly, and most damningly, the management is incompetent. They at least as bad as the roaches in my opinion. They smile and try very hard to get you to buy a lease, and they treat you very well in the beginning. However, after you have your lease, you may as well be on your own. Management never seems to know what's going on. They continuously forget about things you tell them a day before and things you say REPEATEDLY. There is one management worker with ginger hair here who is always on his phone. He does nothing but sit at the desk and play on his phone. He has no clue what goes on in the building. I asked him one time why the washing machine situation was so awful, and he insisted that I could just put quarters in the machine to get it working. Ignoring the fact that inserting quarters into a broken machine will not fix it, the washing machine does not take ANY QUARTERS. It is meant to be free. There isn't even a place to put money in at all.
When I asked about the stolen packages to another managing person here, she has given me a fake apology and basically told me that it was my problem, and I should call the online shop I purchased from. Nevermind the fact that the mailroom is a mess, and very easy to get into. The password is 12345678. The same password is on the door to get into the building.
In short, from management, you will get nothing but fake smiles, fake apologies, and insistence you solve the problems that they caused.
My floor also smells of cigarettes. Someone here is smoking a whole lot.
