Great Building
The facilities are great and I love having my own townhome style apartment. I have my own garage and then live about that so it feels like my own house rather than your typical apartment building. The facility also has a small gym, indoor basketball court, and pool, which is great, especially in the summer. Overall, I'm super happy with my choice to live here both years of the program.

Expensive, but Worth It
I really enjoyed living at Main Street Village. As an older law student, it was nice to be able to get away from campus and have my own space. The apartment was big and had lots of natural light, plus a connected parking spot which was great for those South Bend winters. My only complaint was the distance, it was about a 15-20 minute drive to campus, and then about a 10 minute walk from the parking lot to class--so about a 30 minute commute each way. It was worth it, but did mean I missed out on some of the on-campus activities.

Best housing
MSV has a clubhouse (half-size basketball court, gym, free printer, mini movie theater, sauna, pool, lots of lakes to walk around). Everybody has two parking spots. Apartments themselves come with laundry machines, dishwashers, a porch with great views, and even a huge office desk to study in. Staff responds quickly to work orders. Heating is fantastic in the winter and AC is great in the summer, though my pipes did freeze during a polar vortex (MSV told me to stay in a hotel, for which they would reimburse me).
Neighbors are friendly (occasionally there are rumors of thieves rummaging through unlocked cars, and I have myself experienced a porch pirate ripping open some of my packages and apparently deciding he did not want lotion from Target after all). Dogs get three dog parks and lots of well-maintained grass space to roam. Doggy bag dispensers are everywhere though typically not refilled. MSV took a dog poop sample and claimed they would run a DNA test from it, so that they could identify every dog whose owner wasn't picking up poop. I'm not sure if they actually do that or it's just poop pickup theater. Complex all in all is very quiet, filled with families, grad students, older folks living near the hospital, and working folks.
You're super closer to Super Target, Costco, the University Park Mall, and of course, Hibachi Grill, the greatest buffet in the Midwest. Drive to campus takes about 15-20 minutes, and more in the snow, with an additional 10 minutes to walk from the inexplicably huge parking lot (maybe they do something called tailgating in the parking lot? In order to celebrate something called football? But I'm not sure.)
Only inconvenience is mail being far away from your apartment. Usually, postal workers deliver packages right to your doorstep. I guess another thing to watch out for is that during finals week in Spring 2019, one of the MSV buildings burned down on account of a resident's decorative hay bale catching on fire. Luckily, the fire station is two minutes down the road.

Great place to live if you're willing to pay for it
Rent is about the same as Overlook or the Foundry, but you get way more space. The caveat is that you have about a 15 minute drive to the campus parking lot and then about a 10-minute walk to the law school. The place has an outdoor pool, a small indoor gym, a half basketball court, pool tables, a movie theatre room, and a sauna. The property is divided by several buildings that each house about eight apartment units. Management is very nice and responsive. Make sure when you look at the rent to ask how much water, trash pickup, cable, internet, etc. will cost you. I included that total cost in my rent that I listed, but I actually pay those all separately so they will not be reflected in the rent price that Main Street Village Apartments provides to you.
