Great Apartment, near campus and easy access to SMU. Managers are easy to work with and living there is easy. Further from other students and off campus events than I would like.

Everything except Managment

The apartment is great, neighbors are great, the location is great. The management is not exactly responsive or helpful though. I wouldn't say that they're terrible, but they're not great.

Phoenix

The Phoenix is a very popular building for SMU students, but there is a surprising number of families and ethnic people here. I wouldn't recommend it if you aren't an SMU student just because it gets loud and people have parties and stuff. This one time, I was walking to a friend's on a different floor, I walked into the wrong apartment, but they invited me to hang out there for a while anyway. People here are either super friendly, or are super weird and I feel like they're going to murder me. It's sketchy, but everyone seems to be fine with it because it's close to SMU. Also there's a Kroger across the street so that's good.

There are a ton of shops and restaurants within walking distance which is great, but there are also a lot of homeless people and some wild stuff going on at night. My boyfriend works the night shift at 7/11 and always comes home with the craziest stories. During the day I would say I love the neighborhood.
Super close to campus and all things needed for daily living, including workout places, restaurants and grocery stores. 10-15 minute drive to bars and restaurants in downtown and uptown area, so close enough it is convenient but far enough it feels residential.
Nice, family- and pet-friendly neighborhood. Glencoe Park is right in front of the apartment complex, so there are many families, elderly people, runners, cyclists, dogs, and dog owners walking about the neighborhood. Great area!
Apartments in Old East Dallas are close enough to Uptown and Knox Henderson that you get the city vibe without the city prices. Check out Jimmy's Food Store - an Italian grocery store with THE BEST sandwiches and cannolis!
The Lower Greenville/Lakewood area is a perfect neighborhood for young families in Dallas. There are lots of outstanding restaurants and a few bars, great parks, and an outstanding school community.
Location is close to everything- easy freeway access, close to lots of great areas like Knox Henderson, Lower Greenville, Uptown. Also super close to a variety of grocery stores- love that!
The neighborhood is definitely a fun place to be as a social young person in Dallas - the proximity in the city and popular bars and restaurants can't really be beat
The surrounding areas can get a little sketchy, as it is pretty close to Mockingbird Station. However, we don’t have a problem with crime on the property itself
