Washburn Village Review

Living in Washburn Village is great! You're on campus, right near everything and you don't have to go far to find the things that you need. Everything on campus is walking distance so if you don't have a car, you will be just fine. The only downside is not knowing who your roommates will be, especially if you are really big on cleanliness and things in relation to. You also have laundry right there in the lobby and your packages come to the lobby as well apart from other students that do not live there. You hear a lot of noise but it isn't overbearing.

Washburn Village (Great for TYA, Transfers, & Exchange Students)

I've had a wonderful experience at Washburn Village. It's walking distance to the law school, food options, and the campus gym. There is free parking and all utilities are included. It's secure, gated with cameras and WUPO patrolling the parking lot at night. Maintenance of the facilities has always been prompt. The units are 4 bedrooms and 2 bath with a shared kitchen and living room.

This apartment is a great option for students who live somewhere else full time because it comes furnished, the contract lines up with the school year, and the charge goes to our student account so paying with student loans is easy. If you request other law student or post-graduate roommates the housing office attempts to comply (3/4 in my unit are law students here at Washburn). But at minimum, there are no freshmen so it's a more mature space. I also enjoy the restrictions and rules enforced around quiet hours because it helps protect my study and sleep time.

Close, Secure, Clean, Quiet

Living on campus is not everyone's cup of tea but personally, the closeness to the law school, my ability to have my own space, the security of a gated complex, the free parking, and the rules keeping things quiet and clean make it worth it. The apartment themselves have a living room and kitchen (minus an oven), hardwood floors, a full bathroom for every 2 roommates, giant windows, and come fully furnished. The community building is nice with a pool table, patio space with a grill, and a fireplace. You can check out items from the front desk for cleaning or entertainment. The grounds are lovely, I see bunnies and other animals in there constantly.

It's slightly more expensive on the month to month than living elsewhere but the benefits, the included utilities, and the fact that the apartment is fully furnished more than make up for it. Also, there are lots of other graduate and law students living there so it wouldn't be hard to get roommates in similar programs / situations. If you ever have problems there are staff to help you resolve them and in a worst case you can be moved to a different apartment in the complex without getting trapped by a lease.

Its good.

Living on campus at Washburn Village is a good experience. The roommates can be a real drag, but the rent is comparable. The law school is nearby and so is the gym, which is free as a student.
