all the facilities are old and maintenance service are bad
Last winter, it takes me three weeks and a lot of effort to let them fix a loud noise in my bedroom caused by the heating system. The fixing process was actually quite simple, it did not even cause them any money, but they just did not want to do it. Other facilities also frequently cause unexpected problems.

The Statesman
The Statesman is certainly pricier than housing in other neighborhoods, but you can't beat the convenience in terms of proximity to school. Studio units are relatively small, depending on what you're used to, but the space is very workable. The kitchen is particularly small. The building is mostly GW students so some nights there may be music or noise in the hallway but it's isolated and brief so it's never been a problem for me. In my experience, management is very helpful and responsive. There's an online system for maintenance issues and other things, like paying rent, guest permission, etc. There is a small gym and rooftop space; laundry room is big and kept clean. Overall, I think it's a good, well-managed building and if you want to be close to school, it's absolutely perfect.

Overall great
The building can't be beaten for location, it's a 5 minute walk tops to the school. There are only a couple negatives I'd point out. First, if you live on the wrong side of the building, the laundry can be quite a walk. Second, I'm not sure if it's just my apartment but the floors seem to get dusty quite quickly. However, the apartments are very spacious and I've never had problem actually finding an open washing machine or dryer, despite doign laundry on Sundays.

Great location, expensive rent
The statesman is in a great location for law students. The front desk staff is very friendly, and management is responsive to issues. I think the rent for a studio is very high, especially after the rent increase after my first year of living here. My studio is a good size, 625 square feet, but it’s still hard to justify the rent considering this isn’t a luxury building by any means

A solid option if you want to live close to school
This is a very good place to live. Very close to GW Law school, apartments are spacious, and depending on their location in the building, can get a lot of light. The blinds are not very good at blocking out the light though, fyi. The building has a rooftop deck and small fitness center in the basement. Security is solid, need a keycard to get in the front and back entrances, and there are 4 elevators total, 2 in the front of the building 2 in the back. Lots of closet storage, but the kitchen has limited counter space, and only one outlet for appliances. Gas stove and a garbage disposal are nice. The finishings (cabinets/counters/flooring) are pretty mediocre, but for the price, amenities, and good location, it's a worthy trade off.

It's a great place!
My one bedroom apartment in The Statesman is very spacious. I have two closets, a bathroom, and a kitchen. I recommend this apartment building for its kind neighbors, cleanliness, view, amenities, space, and more. It is so spacious, that a couple and a pet can easily and comfortably live here. Although it is on a college campus, the residents that live here are respectful and are responsible. However, because it is a college campus, traffic can be chaotic during rush hour. The stoplights are a minute long, so I recommend taking transportation rather than driving.

Great apartment--nice kitchen and living area. Have a desk and couch, comes with utilities and lightly furnished. nice gym and great roof patio. A lot of restaurants nearby, close to the metro and right in campus. reasonable rent and a lot of windows and light
