Close to campus but there are better deals

The size and location of the apartment is a good deal for what you pay but overall is of only average value. The management company tends to nickle and dime residents with rent and parking spaces while being slow to respond to service requests. If you get a space facing Walnut, you will have to deal with noise but this may not bother you if you are from a large city. The proximity to 2401 can't be beat and is about a 20 minute walk from school. On the edge of the Wharton bubble, you are still about 15 minutes from any bar in greater Rittenhouse.

Great building with limited drawbacks

Riverloft is a great place to live. The units are large, the building is clean and has good amenities. Positives are high ceilings and new appliances, proximity to campus and in-building parking. Negatives are lack of roof space, current construction on the facade and sometimes non-responsive management.

Wharton MBA

The location is arguably the best. Across the street from 2401, a direct shot down Walnut to campus, 24hr RiteAid across the street, and about 10mins from Rittenhouse. It is on the pricey side, but worth it for the access.

Amazing space and location

Very glad to have moved here for the second year. Location cannot be beaten and the apartment is very spacious.

I love the Riverloft -- outstanding location (right by the Wharton space at 2400 Walnut) , great amenities, and spacious apartments. Management has also been reliable and easy to work with.

Best Location

The apartment has I incredible large windows and modern appliances. Service has been great. The building is a little dated, but the location is the absolute best for a Wharton student. 20mins to Hunstman and across the street from 2401.

Fitler Square is really cute and homey. It's around a lot of other medical students, so it's a good social area and has an easy commute to school. It's also great if you like running because it's right off the trail on the river. Food is good but a bit homogenous (compared to West Philly especially.

Locust and spruce feel a lot safer than market or chestnut at night. Very residential streets with beautiful brownstones. Also close to dog park and the river walkway. About 10min walk from the popular buildings and 25min walk to huntsman

Love the neighborhood! If you're interested in being close to the center of the city and being able to actively explore Philly (for a not extreme price) it was great! Also was easy to get to my school - University of Pennsylvania. 15-20 mins to get to school by transit; 30 mins walking.

That being said I did notice that most students lived on the side of the school!

The beautiful tree-filled neighborhood is full of families, dogs, and students - it is safe, full of great restaurants, and boasts an equally quick walk to both University City and downtown attractions. The immediate access to the Schuylkill River Trail also can't be beat. While we lack apartment amenities, we love living in a historical brownstone that has charm and character. This is an area where you can live as a student and stay for another 20 years after that.

Great neighborhood, though expensive for Philly. If you're a Penn grad student who wants to be near campus but not on campus, it's ideal for distance from school and the Rittenhouse area. Lots of parks and residents are friendly.
There are residents without housing in the neighborhood. They're good people and new residents should be respectful of them and their belongings.

The neighborhood is very residential. Not a ton of bars/restaurants which can be annoying if you just want to pick up food after a busy day, but it's right near the park and Skukyhill river trail which is great for exercising and getting outdoors. Close to Trader Joe's and South Street market which is convenient

Center City is a fantastic area. I live on the northern side of it, which is the more financial/industrial/apartment building side. I live 2 blocks from a busy Trader Joe's and inches away from tons of great restaurants, corner stores, and shops. It's close to Rittenhouse Square, a swanky square block with a tiny park in the middle, as well as the Schuylkill River trail (great for running and biking) and the Art Museum area. Multiple major bus lines slice through this neighborhood, making it quite easy to get anywhere when you don't want to walk or bike.
