Vista Del Campo Graduate
Relatively quiet. Good clean living conditions. all utilities paid for. Laundry machines in the actual room. Very quick turnaround on fixes if a work order is opened.
Unfortunately has been occasional break-ins for some residents however if you take precaution and make sure everything is locked and closed it shouldn't happen.

Best value for money for a small family
For a couple, overall living cost (rent+internet+utilities+transport) is cheapest at VDC's one bed room units even though the space is small. So its the best value for money.
For a single person wiling to share the place with roommates, its better to look for off campus apartments which work out cheaper. (e.g. Parkwest Apartments)

Apartments NOT as nice as common areas, improper roommate matching and rules not enforced
The apartment did not meet my expectations: 1) I thought the bathroom would be newer, 2) my bedroom was dirty when I first walked into it, 3) one of my housemates was extremely different from me and our disagreements were not handled appropriately by the community's management team; instead of helping solve our problems, the management team made my living there more uncomfortable and stressful. 4) One of the housemates did not follow community rules (she smoked in her room, had her boyfriend living with her, did not keep common places clean) and management did not enforce them.
5) I did not feel safe, especially living on the first floor, because I would almost weekly from the Irvine Police emails informing about apartment thefts.

Merage school student
If you just want a place which is close to campus and Arc, VDC is really a good choice. There is really convenient bus access (buses take off every 15 minutes) and free resident parking if you have a car. Also the community center keeps your packages for you if you are not at home.
