Great study space

Excellent apartment with great study space. Main reasons for choosing the apartment were distance from school and safety. Apartment is also located right above a Safeway (grocery store) and 1 block away from a metro station and bus stop. Cost to school using Lyft Libe is about 3$

Great building and location, questionable management

We love love love our actual apartment-- it's spacious without being too expensive, we have access to a courtyard so there's lots of light, everything is brand new, we're right near the rooftop and gym

New building above Petworth Safeway

Brand new building, but clearly cheaply built - the fixtures break regularly, there's a lot of street noise, and a lot of noise from other apartments and the hallway. That said, it's pet-friendly, clean, and the management is responsive. About 35 minutes to campus on Metro during rush-hour.

Shiny and new, management still learning their way

I read both the good and bad before moving into The Swift and chose to accept that there are always new building bumps in the road. I have not experience any of the negatives thus far. That being said, there was a garage break-in so if you have a car, I'd be concerned about that. Otherwise, I've had only positive experiences with front desk folks and management and hope that it continues that way if/when anything comes up. So far, I would definitely recommend it!

Petworth Reviews

Petworth is in transition between a slightly run-down forgotten neighborhood and awesome! While that's kind of a mixed bag in terms of housing quality, safety, things to do, etc. we find it very exciting. There are a few little playgrounds in the neighborhood and we enjoyed taking walks anywhere and everywhere - the zoo is less than an hour's walk away if you're feeling really adventurous! It seems like a new local business pops up every few weeks, the library has plenty of great programming, the neighborhood has a strong sense of community - highly recommend to a roommate group that wants to share a big row house, families with younger kids, and those who want to live in a quirky always-changing part of the city.
Lots of cute restaurants, bars, and friendly people once you give it a chance
It is quiet, generally safe, and in a convenient place in town.
Petworth/Columbia Heights has a large Salvadorian population that give the area a lot of character. There are a good number of underrated, low key bars within walking distance.
Nice neighborhood. Living right on Georgia avenue next to the metro comes with some noise and safety issues.
I love my neighborhood
Living close to a metro station is great for the commute. We also live right next door to Safeway. But it's on Georgia Ave which often feels like a highway in the mornings and cars zoom by at 40miles and hour and often runs the red lights. We also live right next to a Wendy's so I can hear drunk people's after the club food orders at 1am. There is a lot of noise at all times of the night.
The immediate surrounding area is pretty safe; however, I still won’t walk to school because of the amount of men that linger on Georgia Ave throughout the day/night. I walk freely and w/o concern a couple blocks inevery direction. Streets are usually very populated
