Good with lacking amenities
Too far from campus if you don't have a car, but a 10-15 minute drive with a car. Bus stop right in front of the complex. Lake view. Overall quiet, with grad students and families. Pet friendly.

Good with lacking amenities
The apartment complex is responsive, clean, quiet and isolated. The rent is very decent for the price, however, there are other apartments that offer more. Outside of the rent, I have to pay for my own electric, gas, hot water, internet, and trash - this leads my overall expenses to be between $2100-2200/month.

Candlewyck Park Apartments Review
It is a bit more expensive than other housing, but the area is quiet and has great views of Cayuga Lake. I would recommend having a car because a commute to campus can take anywhere from 10-15 minutes. However, there is a bus stop on the property.

Great management team!
The complex is a little out of the way from Ithaca and Cornell, but it is only a 10min drive to get anywhere. Great view of Lake Cayuga. Quiet neighborhood, good for Grad Students and professionals.
There is a bus stop directly at the entrance of the complex that will take you directly to downtown Ithaca or Cornell University.
Stable internet connection (Compared to Maplewood and Collegetown Terrace).
Older exterior with decently refurbished interior

Candlewyck Reviews
The apartments are pretty old and need some serious renovations. The heaters only work well in some of the rooms and there is only one a/c unit in the living room.
The apartments are located on a really busy highway and it's really hard to get in and out of the complex. They are also located near a hospital so you hear a lot of ambulances throughout the day.
These apartments are located far from campus and the only way to get to Cornell is by driving through downtown. You have to go through many stoplights and poorly kept roads.
Overall I wouldn't live here again. The only reason we don't move now is because we have a contract signed.

Great apartment complex!
We have loved living at Candlewyck Park. It is a little bit outside of Downtown, but offers a quiet community, with lake views. Maintenance is quick, and we have had little issues. Snow removal is always fast, even after large winter storms. It is pet-friendly, which was a huge plus for us, since we have a cat and a dog. The cost is also very affordable compared to other areas we looked at. I do wish there was a gym on-site, and not all units have laundry. However, there are units in each building.

Candlewyck Park
Candlewyck Park is a little outside of town, but has been a great experience. It is about 15 minutes to Sage Hall and a short ride to the Commons. There is a nice view of the lake, and well-maintained grounds. It is a quiet neighborhood, with mostly couples or adults living here. We have never had any issues with hearing our neighbors above, or next to us (we are on the 1st floor).
Any issues that have come up have been fixed quickly by the maintenance staff, usually within 1 day. The maintenance guy is incredibly kind, and always doing his best to fix any issues.
It is dog-friendly, with many of the apartments having dogs. It is also cat-friendly.
The apartments are semi-upgraded, with newer carpet or laminate flooring. While the kitchen is not new, it is functional, and we have not had any issues with the appliances. The washer and dryers are on the 1st floor and are card operated. We have an all in one washer and dryer, but never dry clothing in it, as it takes 3-6 hours to do so. We just use the dryers in the building.
They also provide additional storage, in a storage closet in the laundry room. It allowed us to put away additional items that did not fit in the apartment.

Candlewyck Apartments
My husband and I live at Candlewyck apartments and so far we have really liked living here. It is a quiet and pet-friendly complex. Most people who live here are couples or single people so not a lot of kids. All of the apartments come with a small storage unit. My husband and I live in a 1 bedroom apartments and we have a good amount of storage and a walk-in closet.
Every building has its own laundry room but if you rent a 2 bedroom you can pay extra to have a washer and dryer in your own apartment.
Great things about living here:
-A lot of parking spaces
-Quiet and safe
-Rent is always the same month to month
-inexpensive apartments
-pet-friendly
-bus stop right in front of apartments
Some things to be aware of:
-Some of the units don't have AC (i think the basement units)
- The building where the leasing office is located is a lot nicer than the other buildings so make sure they show you apartments in another building and that you look at other laundry rooms.
-The common spaces like the hallways and laundry rooms are not frequently cleaned

Solid Apartment
Extremely fast maintenance service and landlord response time. It is a little far from campus but is fairly priced and an easy bus ride to campus.

Unless pet owners, stay away
This is one of the few apartment complexes in Ithaca that is dog-friendly, which is why my wife and I chose to live here (but it's an extra $30 a month, plus a non-refundable $500 pet deposit). That's the only actual positive living experience here.
You won't realize just how far away you are from everything else until you've sat in traffic for 25 minutes at 7:30 AM trying to get across Meadow Street. We live almost exactly 3 miles away from the law school, and it takes an average of 20 minutes for us to drive to the school. The building is out of delivery range for most Seamless restaurants.
The building is very keep-to-yourself, which is good in general. You won't find many other students, and the ones (like us) who live here are generally leaving to socialize when that's our desire.
On-site management and maintenance are very friendly and quick to respond, but the rental organization's policies are draconian. We had problems with our sink clogging, so instead of getting a plumber to come look at our sink, our garbage disposal was taken away without warning. When I called and explained that their actions violated our lease, they basically said "we don't care, it's now the policy of the management company to remove garbage disposals as needed."
Heating and electric charges don't make very much sense - despite using basically the same level of heat and electricity for the past three months, we've been charged three wildly different amounts for those services.
We have a good amount of storage space and our apartment is spacious, but our balcony (big advertisement for them here) faces some trees. You can't see the lake from your apartment unless you live in the lower two buildings.
