Quality apartment with reasonable rent
Alden Place is a large apartment complex with two pools and BBQ areas, a small gym (really just good for aerobics), and ample parking. The apartments themselves are decent. They are relatively spacious, with good-sized balconies (if you're above the first floor). Our apartment never had any serious issues over the course of two years, and management was usually quick to respond to the few issues we did report. The commute to Duke's campus is less than 10mins by car, and there is a bus route nearby that runs every 30mins to an hour depending on time of day. The location is near Target and Harris Teeter, but not ideal if you're seeking bars and restaurants, which are mostly in Durham proper. Overall, Alden's reasonable rents make it a good value.

Great choice if you want a quiet place to live
Alden place is very affordable and a quiet place to live. On the cons side, you will be away from other students in s9/b9 area and you will need a car or scooter to go to school.

Alden Place Review
Cheap place to live with spacious floor plans. I hear about some robberies but don't know anyone who was a victim. They claim that it was the resident's fault for leaving the door/window open.

New Resident Review
Enjoying it here so far. I've noticed there can be a lot of bugs sometimes though. Spiders, little water pipe centipedes, and roaches. But this is probably a normal apartment thing. I like it here. Everyone's friendly and I can see myself resigning my lease next year.

Value
Great value for your money, about 3 miles from Fuqua. Safety is good, clean and nice landscaping and apartments. No stainless steel or granite, but you aren't paying the premium for them either! Not a party complex, so you get leave and quiet when home, then go over to the other complex to party.

Safe Quiet and spacious apartments
For the money Alden Place apartments are a steal. The spacious 2 bedroom 2 baths apartments for less than 1200 provides you with ample space for two with enough privacy if you need it. The balconies are screened in so you can enjoy the evening breeze without worrying about letting any bugs in. Its about 3 minutes drive to grocery stores and shopping centers and a mere 5 minute drive to Fuqua!

Beware
Here's the deal:
If you are single DO NOT live here (go live in S9 if that floats your boat), I made the mistake of doing so. Location is not too bad, it's about a 6 minute drive to Fuqua, there's a Harris Teeter nearby and several restaurants. Not many things within walking distance, so you definitely need a car.
Zero, absolutely no social events go on here. This place is for couples with kids, and I've heard Garrett Farms is better and offers essentially the same.
If you are into social stuff and hanging out with everyone, please do not consider this place or even this part of town, go live at or close to S9 (which is basically the epicenter of Fuqua). The parking lot is not covered and the staff is just as average as a staff could be.

Great, clean, affordable
Great choice for budget-conscious renters. Management is extremely helpful and friendly.
I'd choose Alden again if I wouldn't have to move to a different state for my full-time job.
