I think this is a really nice, safe area. It is usually pretty quiet, and there are a lot of families and local business in the area. My apartment is above a hair salon and a coffee shop, which I really enjoy. It is also just a couple minutes away froom Bryan Park, which is a great place to walk.

It's close enough to the school that it's an easy walk (~15 minutes if I'm at a good pace, otherwise slightly longer) and it's bus accessible for most of the way.
Several other law school students in my year live nearby that I get along with which has made the neighborhood nice for bumping into people I like. Yet none live in the building or that close that I'm bumping into people all of the time. Generally it is quiet though. I wish there were more eateries nearby, but there are some. Keep reading
Morton Mansion
The neighborhood is quiet and on the northeastern edge of Bloomington. I'd say roughly 30-40% of the apartment tenants are IU students. There is quiet neighborhood behind the complex which I use to take walks almost every day; it's a 30-minute loop. The only downsides to the neighborhood are that if you want to go downtown or to campus you have to either drive, Uber, or take the bus and there aren't really any restaurants within walking distance.

It's close to the law school (~7 minute walk).
It's even closer to most of Bloomington's best bars & restaurants. It's within walking distance from just about everything you need— but it's better to have a car to do grocery shopping. There are nearby parking lots that you can walk to for that, and there are two secret streets within walking distance that have free parking (the only 2 in Bloomington). It's very safe. I walk my dog around the neighborhood several times per day. I don't have any kids here, but I think it would be a fine place for kids, too. Keep reading
Uptown Apartments
The neighborhood/area surrounding my apartment is absolutely beautiful. There is a cafe right across the street from me, as well as a restaurant/bar that is very upscale. There have been no issues with neighbors, and I find that my main way of unwinding is going for a long walk outdoors because of how safe and family-friendly it is. There is also a park about a 5 minute walk from me, which is surrounded by the literal mansions.

The neighborhood is great. Right by Bryan Park, Soma, and Feta Kitchen & Cafe. The house is right by a bus stop for the 7, which goes to the law school and comes about every 15-20 minutes.

I'm an introvert, I just want a nice safe quiet place to walk my dog and to run. Out of the back of the apartment complex there's a park and subdivisions. The neighborhood is on Seventh street near the bars and restaurants, but there is an incredible amount of noise at night. That’s something that just comes with living near undergrad houses and bars, but it’s definitely something to keep in mind. The neighborhood is perfect. This is definitely a suburban neighborhood that is filled with families, children, and pets. If you are looking for a young partying neighboorhood, this is NOT the place for you. There is a park and tennis court right down the street. The only con to this complex is the distance from campus. It is a 10-minute drive to campus, which is considered "far" for a college town. Additionally, if you rely on public transportation, the city bus only comes by at certain times in the morning and at night. You have to cross busy 3rd street to get to the other bus stop that goes at all hours of the day.

Bloomington is nice overall! I think downtown is very walkable, and there are a significant variety of restaurants for a smaller city. Coming from Atlanta, I do miss certain cuisines (waiting on a ramen bar!), but I appreciate all that Bloomington offers. Bloomington isn't bad if you're a student, but wouldn't want to live here long-term. It is small and has decent food and coffee options but you'll exhaust all options pretty quickly. Seems pretty safe as well. Not a lot of shopping options but Indy isn't too far of a drive.

I live near the stadium so when there are football or basketball games, it can be noisy especially when people tailgate. Sometimes the people in the houses have parties on Friday, but usually, stop around 10PM. There are some food places and a CVS nearby so not isolated too much. It is about 30 minute walk to the law school, but you can easily catch a bus. It is a great neighborhood if you want some quiet on the weekdays.

The area is pretty quiet, even on the weekends. I enjoy how close the neighborhood is to campus and to Kirkwood. There are sidewalks for safe walking, but there aren't a ton of streetlights, meaning it can get dark at night.

The neighborhood is relatively quiet. It is close to IU and fine for jogging/biking outdoors.
There were no breakins or bike thefts during my lease. You can sometimes hear parties when the weather is nice, but the parties generally stay in their own yards or inside the house. The neighbors are primarily students, with some young families scattered throughout. Keep reading

The neighborhood is a mix of mostly students. There are some undergrads on the street that are loud (at least their occasional parties pre COVID), but it's pretty minimal. The neighborhood is primarily residential and fairly quiet. Lots of traffic on Indiana and 10th St, which is the intersection closest to this apartment building, but it is easy to cross at the light.
