Beautiful View but an old building with issues

I love my apartment for the beautiful view and the giant windows. The complex also has a decent gym and is conveniently located next to Whole Foods. The master bedroom & closet are big, which is very nice.

However, it has many issues, unfortunately. It is not as nice as E2 or Albion, so it should not cost as much.

The package room does not work well - they never notify you if you have a package, so plan to track them yourself. It is an old building with renovations that look nice (ie newer appliances), but misses some important things. Most notably, there is no fan in the bathrooms, there is no garbage disposal, there are few ceiling fixtures (no ceiling fan / light in the living room or bedrooms, only a ceiling light in the kitchen), and the sink has square corners (where you cannot get them clean).

The temperature control is on an old system: no digital temperature display and the whole building switches from A/C to heat together, so hopefully you agree with the timing. In the winter, the leaking heat seems to come into my room even with the thermostat off, so I often end up opening my windows on occasion.

Since we have a two bedroom unit we have in-unit laundry (1 bedrooms don'e), but it was just put in an old closet which does not have ventilation, so it does not dry very well.

Convenient Location

Park Evanston is one of the closest buildings to the hub, something you appreciate most on the coldest days. Units are relatively large for the price and renovated units have nice finishes. No in-unit washer/dryer in Studios or 1beds.

Great building and perfectly located!

This is a great apartment building; the location is great, the common areas of the building are really nice and easy to find a space in, and the rooftop view is spectacular. Only trouble is a very strict property management co - but after moving in, you don't really need to deal with them.

Park Evanston - worth the location

Park Evanston is the best location with incredible views. One beds don't have laundry in-unit (1.5 and above do), but it has been worth it for us. The laundry in the building is always empty, clean, and easy to use. Our apartment is only 600 sq ft, but it's laid out very efficiently and feels bigger than some of the E2 units I've seen. The gym is also great and usually pretty quiet. Been a great experience thus far!

Nice Apartment

Very nice building with a decent sized gym. Management and maintenance are very responsive. Only downside is other residents get very upset if you are being loud.

Underrated Housing for Kellogg

I have always been surprised by why more Kellogg students do not live in Park Evanston. It is in a great location, good value, and newly renovated amenities including a decent gym and pool space. Most apartments are newly renovated as well.

Park Ev

Park Evanston is a great location close to everything in downtown Evanston and a very easy walk to Kellogg. The amenities in the building are great, the management is really friendly and the apartments are all recently renovated. The main issue I've experienced is that they shut off the A/C around October and because of all of the sun on the building and the lack of ability to open windows beyond a few inches cracked, certain apartments get very overheated.

Downtown Evanston Reviews

Lots of apartments and family homes in the area. I always see someone riding their bike or walking throughout the day. It's a block from the police station, and only 2-3 blocks to downtown. Close to intercampus shuttle, 201 bus stop (3 blocks), and Dempster purple line (1.5 blocks). Nice area to live, quiet at night.
Downtown Evanston is a great place to live if you're a NU student. It's super easy to get to campus via either walking or the bus, and has convenient groceries within walking distance. The food scene is not the best, but good enough.
Evanston is the epitome of a college town, everything you need and most of what you want is within a 10 minute walk.
I really enjoy living in downtown Evanston. Everything that I need is within walking distance, and it is a 10-15 minute walk to my classes.
Safe, walkable area, even late at night depending on the streets you take. Great for convenience in terms of getting to campus, no car needed, access to many public transit options. You lose out in terms of cheap food options and fun nightlife - there are only a couple of bars open after 9PM on the weekends and for cheap food you're stuck with Chipotle or at best Tomate. But the lake and beach are within walking distance and you live close to other NU students making it well worth it for me.
Evanston really is a nice town. There's loads of food, both chains and otherwise, and a number of shops and things if you don't mind moving around a little. Driving in the greater Evanston area is not a lot of fun, I will say. I get the sense that the city doesn't much like the University and its constituents, and that the students don't always respect the city. It's not a perfect relationship, but it works. I can easily walk or take transit to class on the Evanston campus, and when I have class in Chicago I take transit, which usually takes more than an hour in the morning and close to an hour coming home.
Downtown Evanston is super cute! There are tons of restaurants and a handful of bars so I find that it offers a good bit of variety for the neighborhood size. There are street festivals, a great farmers market, summer concerts in the square and other community events I've enjoyed. Would highly recommend Evanston anyone who wants access to the city but a self-sufficient "urban burb" type neighborhood.
Pros: Great location near key Kellogg hangouts like World of Beer, Nevins, Five and Dime, Prairie Moon, etc. Also convenient to Bennison's Bakery! Great for late nights- can get home in < 5 minutes without ubering. Also near both Metra and L- ideal if you plan to spend some of your time in downtown Chicago.

Cons: Long walk from the Global hub. Closest grocery store is Whole Foods, a bit of a hike to TJ's and Jewel.
