Great value close to Downtown Evanston
1500 Chicago is a fantastic value for folks who don't put a high premium on amenities. Although the building doesn't have a pool and the gym is bare bones, it is clean and well-managed.
Some of the apartments (like mine) have been recently renovated, so they are a lot nicer than what the outside look of the building may suggest. If you are on the south-facing facade, there is an abundance of sunlight and a beautiful view of the Chicago skyline. I have never had noise or heating issues. More importantly, the apartments are gigantic! I could fit all three studios I rented in New York into my place here. A store sent me by mistake a California King mattress rather than the Queen I had purchased, but I was able to keep the larger one because it fit comfortably in my bedroom with space for a desk and a dresser.
Northwestern University is an easy walk up Chicago Ave, with Kellogg's Global Hub about a ~18 min walk depending on your walking speed. The building is very close (~1-2 blocks) from the bar and restaurant strip where Kellogg students tend to congregate. Three grocery stores are also within an easy 10 min walk on Chicago Ave.

Good Value
Apartment is good value. Decent amount of Kellogg (20ish) and Northwestern grad students in the building mixed with elderly folks and a few families. Close to restaurants and bars, and has a bus stop right outside. Maintenance staff is responsive and very friendly. Things to note: older building, common laundry room (get quarters), and dinky workout room (treadmills and spin bikes).

Comfortable, central, cost-effective
Tons of space, comfortable, sunny, close to all the downtown Evanston bars and restaurants. The apartment is no frills but maintained very well. Management is much more diligent and responsive than anywhere else I've lived. There's also tons of Kellogg students in the building which is nice. Shuttle stops right outside apartment. Close to both Whole Foods and Trader Joe's/Jewel Osco.

1500 Chicago Avenue - Great Value
Great value for a 1 bedroom apt with covered parking. Older building, but management is very responsive. Good location in Evanston. Lots of Kellogg students live in the building.

Great Value
1500 Chicago is a great value - for those more cost-conscious students who want to be close to campus and in the heart of downtown, 1500 Chicago is the best option.

Great choice
Clean, convenient, nice size for a studio and best value.

Good value for money
The building is old and although the maintenance is good, you can see it in the appliances and the bathroom specially. But the rent is affordable, it is well located and management is very responsive.

Downtown Evanston Reviews
Cons: Long walk from the Global hub. Closest grocery store is Whole Foods, a bit of a hike to TJ's and Jewel.
