Wonderful atmosphere at SCIO.
I have enjoyed the experience living at SCIO and find that my apartment provides more than enough space to have many family and friends over.

Living at SCIO
Experience was good. I enjoyed the amenities and my apartment was all that I needed it to be. The things that ultimately made me move from SCIO is that the apartment did not have an in-unit washer and dryer. I did not like the community machines. I also did not like how I was not able to control my A/C and heat.

do not move here
You will regret it. Worst apartment ever, everything breaks easily, and when you move out, you will be charged a large amount for the stupidest things. Prices are way too high, and it doesn't even account for all of the extra things they charge you for rent, so expect to pay 100 to 200 more. People will sometimes take your clothes out of the dryer, they will steal your packages, and the management office wont care. The elevators are also always broken too but if you lived on the second floor, you will deal with floods. Do not move here.

SCIO at the Medical District Review
great option for medical students at Rush

Living at SCIO
SCIO is a nice place that had everything I needed for my first year. The lobby has a great space for studying. The gym is small but has all the equipment that I needed and was never busy. The pool area was nice, but I didn't find I utilized it much, except for the occasional BBQ. The best part of living at SCIO was how close it was to Rush. It's about a 7 minute walk away from campus.
I ultimately decided to move out of SCIO for a few reasons. One, the building has shared A/C and heating so there isn't much autonomy in setting your apartment's temperature. The building only supplies heat OR A/C, never both. So sometimes it got really cold, they would turn the heat on and then a random nice day would happen but there was no A/C for the rest of the year. Secondly, the washer and driers are in a common space on the 1st floor. I hated having to bring my laundry up and down and hated using shared machines.

You pay for convenience!
There are more pros of the building than cons for sure. Notable pros are:
1. The staff here are very friendly and professional. They respond to maintenance requests within a timely manner
2. This is a very dog friendly place to be. My golden doodle has nightly playdates with other puppies on the grounds, and I've gotten to meet many people in the building because of it.
3. There are lots of places to study. While there are only 2 cubes that can be reserved, I do much of my work in the lobby, boardroom, or the event room.
The only downsides are:
1. The building is a bit older, so there is always a lot of maintenance going on and construction on the 903 side of the building
2. The kitchens were updated but the bathrooms/fixtures (doors, cabinets, etc) are not updated so you may be calling maintenance for loose doors/cabinetry, slight mold (which again they handled very quickly), and things like that.
3. The rent is on the pricier side

Best apartment complex within walking distance to Rush
Great apartments within walking distance of Rush. Up to date appliances. Amenities include private study spaces, coffee machine, outdoor pool, gym, and enclosed green spaces perfect to let a dog out. Very dog-friendly apartment. Downsides include expensive price, sometimes maintenance issues (old building but renovated apartments) but they are generally very responsive.

Great location, good amenities, some heating/cooling issues
Overall, this is a really great place to live. It's right next to the medical campus, as well as Taylor St., which has a lot of affordable nice restaurants and bars. The gym downstairs is wonderful and has most of what I need. There is also a coffee machine downstairs, as well as 24 hour security. Management is also super responsive to any issues. There are also thick walls and I don't hear my neighbors.
My only qualms with this building is that heating and cooling seems to be inconsistent, and when it dips to the 30s or below outside, my apartment never seems to heat above 68 degrees, and I have to wear a sweater indoors. However, I have bought a space heater and this seems to solve the issue.
The other issue is that it's just more expensive than living in a walk-up, which can be a little tough financially.
Overall, it's a great place and I'm happy to live here.

Very good
Good place to live, close to the hospital and might be considered for those who don't have car. There is around 200$ extra fees ( Gas, electricity, water...) in addition to the basic rent that you should be aware of them.
