Outdated facilities and poor maintenance

The location of the Village is great. The amenities in the unit were mostly bad. At this price range having no in unit washer dryer is ridiculous. The Village is coasting by on name recognition alone for this set of units. The saving value of the Village is it is convenient to campus, shopping, and US 75.

The units are the Village Corners are all very old and outdated. The maintenance and quality of the fixtures is bad. The layout of the kitchens is awful and tiny so say goodbye to cooking with anyone but yourself. Outdoor odors of smoke from other apartments are abundant. Your A/C unit will be filthy and full of vines growing in it running up your power bill because the maintenance staff doesn't bother to clean it. The maintenance staff is too quick to do things and is sloppy. They tried to paint in my unit standing on a 5 gallon jug of paint and splattered paint everywhere. The doors and windows leak air and water. I could keep going but it would be redundant. Just know you are paying for a clean but outdated and frankly somewhat dumpy apartment.

So much of the cost of the unit goes toward the useless private security, expansive gym, subsidizing the dead restaurants, and large pool. If you plan on not being in your unit much then it might be great. Otherwise forget it.

That being said, the gym and other common facilities are somewhat nice. Even though you pay exorbitant rent the Village finds a way to still nickel and dime you. Buzz and Bustle, the coffee shop they will show you on the tour, does not even have free wifi. The laundry machines don't work half the time and charge you 2.50 for a wash and 1.75 for a dry. That is insane. If a machine in your room goes out of service, say goodbye to it for at least a month. That happened more than once.

Love it!

The Village has a very good community feel and a lot of amenities. Westside particularly is gated with a lot of safety features which make living in a bigger city more comfortable. Very pet friendly as well and there’s a lot of other law students here

Love it!

No complaints! The maintenance is quick and efficient, the patrol service is helpful, the amenities are fantastic, and the apartment itself is great! Lots of parking options, and love that my community is gated. Also, for my building (7), there is a dog park right next to the building which is a huge help.

Great place to live

I really love my apartment. It's gated, has a pool and a dog park. I haven't ever felt unsafe here (as a single woman living alone, that is very important). I haven't had any problems with management. They're always helpful and responsive.

The Village Westside is a Great Place for Young Professionals

I have enjoyed my experience at The Village Westside. The apartments are clean and spacious with great natural light. The appliances are not the newest, but they run well and efficiently.

The Village is very centrally located and has easy access to Northwest HWY, 75, and Greenville.

I personally like that The Village Westside is gated (other Village properties are not).

The Village Westside also offers great (and free) amenities such as two pools, fitness centers, and Village events.

I would definitely recommend living in the Village Westside if you are looking for carefree, comfortable, accessible living!

Getting around Vickery Meadow

Vickery Meadow Reviews

Vickery Meadow probably wouldn't have been our first choice because it can feel claustrophobic due to the density of apartments. However, our little corner has almost none of this feel. Holly Glen is tucked in a corner and backed by a forest. We're not comfortable with my wife walking alone apart from the SoPac (and then we try to shoot for times when it's busy). That said, we feel generally safe.
I honestly didn’t recognize this neighborhood name until I looked it up. Outside of the Village, the area doesn’t have much of an identity. Retail options nearby are nice and restaurants are good, but there isn’t much of a social scene. You’ll want to head down to lower Greenville, uptown, oak lawn, or deep ellum for bars and things to do. All of those are a short, cheap uber away so it isn’t a big deal.
While the Village feels like an escape from the city, Greenville ave. is right there, giving easy access to restaurants, grocery stores, and other kinds of shopping. Dallas proper is only about twenty minutes away by car, and DART is also nearby and easy to use. I have a 5-10 minute commute to campus most days, and if I didn't want to drive, the SMU express has several stops in the Village, making it easy to take (free!) public transportation.
I like the neighborhood. It is quiet and pedestrian friendly. It is great if you are a jogger or have a dog! There are sidewalks, a walking/running path, and a dog park across the street and accessible to anyone living in the Village.
I also like that there are three different grocery stores within a two-mile radius and many eateries off Greenville.
The entire Village property is beautiful and feels pretty safe; however, the surrounding areas are somewhat rundown and don't feel safe. I'm definitely glad that my complex is gated but would feel safer with more restricted access to the Village and apartment buildings.
Everyone in the neighborhood minds their business, and it is fairly quiet. This neighborhood is also a great place to meet up with friends since they have a number of bars and restaurants to choose from.
Easy to get around, shop, etc. Good grocery stores and gas stations nearby. Quick access to 75. Mostly chain restaurants but clean and high quality. Easy to get to SMU, North Park.
If your neighbors are students then it might be fine. If your neighbors are those who stay at home all the time and living on government subsidies, then it won't be pleasant.
