Great place for families!

My wife and I have really enjoyed living at Triphammer Apartments. The apartments are clean, spacious, and newly updated. We've had a good experience with management in our time here so far. They have always been responsive to any needs that came up. The area is also a plus. It's nice to be in Cayuga Heights which is a quiet part of Ithaca. The bus comes right in front of Triphammer Apartments which is also a plus. The one downside is the thin walls.

Triphammer Apartments

I've lived here for 2.5 years now. The apartment is a very good value compared to the other options around Ithaca. Management and maintenance are nice and reasonable. Other tenants are mostly grad students and families, so noise is pretty minimal, even though you can hear the people who live above/below you. The location is good if you don't mind (1) taking the bus to campus back and forth every day (~15 minutes each way) and (2) living away from most other law students. There's a Korean grocery store and an OK pizza place right behind the apartments, which is nice. Also, the Triphammer Mall is walking distance, which has some nice stores (drug store, wine & spirits, craft beer + bar at Ithaca Coffee Company, Ithaca Bakery, barber). All in all, the 2 BR here is pretty ideal if you don't care about living further away from campus.

Oh, two features that you might not think about. There is no issue with heating or AC. Some other places (e.g., Hasbrouck and Maplewood) have centrally located heating and AC, which is a nightmare. Also, there are no pest problems, which come up in the reviews of other places around Lansing.

Triphammer Apartments

I like living at Triphammer. The apartments are spacious (I've lived in both the one-bedroom and two-bedroom units). The kitchens are pretty new and include a a new microwave, oven, and dishwasher. For the two-bedroom units, there are in-unit washer/dryers. The location is great: it is about a 15 minute bus ride away from the law school (5-7 minutes by car), and it is located right next to the best Korean mart in Ithaca. And the rent is not terrible for Ithaca: the two-bedroom is currently about $1605/month with electricity and excellent high-speed internet. Garages are also available for $99/month, but I'm fine with the free street parking. Neighbors are grad/professional students and families, so there are absolutely no noise or safety concerns.

My only complaint is the heating system, which is noisy and not always super effective (can get as cold as 67 degrees at night in my apartment during the winter). Management and maintenance are friendly and responsive.
