WORST EXPERIENCE, DONT RENT FROM RAVI R

I strongly advise potential tenants to steer clear of this building due to my extremely negative experience with landlord and the management office.

One significant incident highlights the landlord's unprofessional behavior and attempt to scam me. My lease was supposed to end on the 31st at 6 PM, but he changed the locks on my unit at 4 PM, with all my belongings still inside. This not only caused me to be late for work but also resulted in a late return of my rental cargo van. I had to go to the management office to get a master key just to access my unit again.

Throughout my lease, I paid my rent on time every month and had no issues or complaints with my neighbors or the building. However, the landlord became upset when I decided not to renew my contract after learning that a person had been murdered inside the building due to security breaches (you can look this up on google).

These experiences have made me feel unsafe and mistreated. I hope this review helps others avoid the stress and inconvenience I faced while living here.

Grand Ohio!

Really great building if you can find a spot! Condo building so you'll rent from an individual condo's owner.
Spacious apartments.
Some have in-unit laundry (mine does) but most do not / use the communal laundry.
Really great gym includes peletons, pilates reformer, lots of machines, indoor pool, outdoor tennis courts.
Secured parking garage attached to the building (no assigned spots but there's always a place to park)
24 hour doorman - all of the staff are really nice!
Pet friendly (including large dogs!)
Does not have central cooling/heating so you're able to control your own apt's temp.
Building keeps getting updated.
South facing units get more light than north facing.
Overall, very quiet. A lot of medical people. Has an older crowd too.
Literally 1 block away from the hospital. Ming hin is right underneath the building and that's a favorite. Close to Starbucks, Dunkin, Whole Foods, Burrito Beach, Jimmy John's, 711, Jersey Mike's, etc. All within the block.

I think the apartment is in a very convenient location in terms of proximity to the hospital, bus stops/red-line station.

I also believe that the renovated gym is pretty good which means you probably don't need an additional gym membership unless you want to deadlift without bothering someone.

I personally haven't had any direct issues with the administration.
The laundry room's camera doesn't have playback which is a risk.

Since this is a condo complex, each apartment can look very different and your experience with your individual landlord can be very different as well. That being said, what I dislike the most about my apartment is that the walls are very thin. I can hear my roommate's very well with both our doors closed. Additionally, I can hear my other neighbors when they walk in the hallway/ have their door open from my apartment.

Given I am on a higher floor (24th), I have a decent amount of sunlight.

Really like the building! The owner of our unit is very nice and we do maintenance requests and pay rent through him. I also really like the gym - super convenient to have it right in the building. Location is amazing for Feinberg medical students or people who work at one of the NM hospitals. Lots of medical students live here. Security is also great. All people who work at the front desk are super nice.

Overall happy, don't love the condo association

My experience in Grand Ohio has been overall very positive. We rent a condo from our landlord, and our landlord is wonderful and very responsive. We have had minimal issues with the apartment but if we ever needed anything even small he helps us get it right away. That said, the condo association overcharges very aggressively and does not maintain the pool well. The hot tub was very recently so overchlorinated that it bleached my swimsuit and give me an itchy rash. I am still working with management to resolve this issue and they have not been as quick as I would have liked.

Perfect location for Feinberg, almost feels like a small slice of a college town because so many of your neighbors will be students, residents, nurses, etc at the hospital. You do get sirens fairly often depending on where you live since the emergency room is very close. The neighborhood doesn't have too many restaurants/bars but it is walking distance to River North and Gold Coast and the rest of the city is easily accessed by public transport. Much safer than most neighborhoods in Chicago.
Streeterville is a very nice neighborhood. There are plenty of parks and grocery stores. There is some late night crime due to the location downtown and close to the beach, but overall nothing worse than anywhere else.

There are some more expensive restaurants and fast food places. Navy Pier attracts a lot of tourists and they can be annoying to navigate around.
I enjoy living in Streeterville since it's near many of Chicago attractions without feeling overwhelming like in the Loop. I am able to walk around safely at night and I like going jogging in Millennium Park. My biggest complaint would be the lack of greenery in the area and how the city can feel a little bit insulating at times. Public transportation is great. This area is pricey, which is why I decided to have a roommate.
The Streeterville area was still pretty sleepy when I moved here three years ago. Since then, there has been an incredible amount of development. New luxury apartments and condos are going up, several new restaurants, a brand new target and Whole Foods. Its become a great place for professionals who enjoy living downtown, but without the club crowds in River North.
There are a few buses that are near by that help get residents down to the loop. Also it's pretty easy to walk around and the cross walks are pedestrian friendly. I'm always able to get around by foot and buses/trains. Streeterville is a very safe neighborhood and I've never felt unsafe walking around at night. The streets are well lit.
Noise is not usually too big of an issue in this neighborhood; it's pretty quiet at night.
There are multiple grocery stores nearby for multiple choices. Also there are a bunch of great places to eat so one will not get bored with options.
While on the expensive end in Chicago, streeterville is safe, has all the necessities (look for apts near grocery stores if you don't have a car!!), is super close to school (and most feinberg students so convenient for socializing), and is super close proximity to restaurants and bars.
This building is located in the center of everything you could possibly need. Whole foods and Jewel within walking distance, easy to get to the lake front, and plenty of good restaurants and bars. The only down side is that it does not really have a "neighborhoody" feel.
Love how close we are to the medical school, makes going to class really easy. A lot of students live in Streeterville so it is very easy to hangout with friends. There are also a few coffee shops in the neighborhood that are very fun to study at!
