Great experience!

I've really enjoyed my time here! The location is fantastic, with Whole Foods right across the street and a 5 minute walk from campus. The gym was newly renovated in 2022 and has a squat rack. The front desk staff are great and there are never any long elevator wait times.

Grand Ohio is great

Grand Ohio is great. It doesn't sell itself as a "luxury" apartment but it is certainly better and homier than many others in the Streeterville area.

Great condo building in a great location

My experience with Grand Ohio has been great. They recently have been remodeling some of the spaces to elevate the interior and gym equipment. It is a central location and right across the street from Whole Foods which is highly convenient, especially when you are busy with medical school and rotations. The condos in this building are also well-known to have expansive storage/closet space, especially compared to other comparably priced units in the Streeterville area. Many Feinberg students also live in this building which has made it a highly social space.

Grand Ohio Review

The Grand Ohio is a great building! The building is full of condos that are reasonably priced and the units are very nice. There are many med students that live in the building as well. It's close to the Northwestern Med campus while also still being close to River North and other areas that are just next to Streeterville, providing you good access to both. All trains and buses are a very short walk away. The front door people are amazing, management is responsive, and maintenance issues are typically very quickly addressed. Some units have in-unit washer and dryer, but for the units that don't (like mine), there is a big laundry room on the 3rd floor with many washers and dryers at a reasonable/normal price (and cheaper than other apartment buildings I've heard of), so I've rarely had to wait to do my laundry. There is also a gym that has pretty much everything you need- a weight room (with a squat rack, free weights, and various machines), a cardio room with treadmills, ellipticals, and bikes, as well as another room with rowing machines, more free weights, and a punching bag. There is also a pool and sauna, and 2 outdoor tennis courts.

Signed by lease for 3 years!

Friendly front desk staff. Currently renovating the parking garage so that is a bit of a pain but should be over by spring/summer. Overall quiet building. Many families but also a lot of physicians and medical students. Condo-based building so how modern each unit is varies. There's a gym, pool, outdoor tennis courts. They accept pets! I believe dogs up to 50lbs but I have a feeling that's not a hard limit. It does not have central air/heating, which I thought would be a bummer but it's been nice because you can control it yourself instead of waiting for the building to turn on/off AC vs Heat (previously experienced that at 420 E Ohio). Some units (mine) does have In-unit washer and dryer! So definitely ask even though most units do not in this building.

Great value

Great value for the price and location. Not a "luxury" apartment, but is relatively modern, with brand new renovated gym and hallways/lobby. Door staff are very nice and always helpful. Large windows in units with more space than most apartments in the area.

Streeterville Reviews

Perfect location for Feinberg, almost feels like a small slice of a college town because so many of your neighbors will be students, residents, nurses, etc at the hospital. You do get sirens fairly often depending on where you live since the emergency room is very close. The neighborhood doesn't have too many restaurants/bars but it is walking distance to River North and Gold Coast and the rest of the city is easily accessed by public transport. Much safer than most neighborhoods in Chicago.
Streeterville is a very nice neighborhood. There are plenty of parks and grocery stores. There is some late night crime due to the location downtown and close to the beach, but overall nothing worse than anywhere else.

There are some more expensive restaurants and fast food places. Navy Pier attracts a lot of tourists and they can be annoying to navigate around.
I enjoy living in Streeterville since it's near many of Chicago attractions without feeling overwhelming like in the Loop. I am able to walk around safely at night and I like going jogging in Millennium Park. My biggest complaint would be the lack of greenery in the area and how the city can feel a little bit insulating at times. Public transportation is great. This area is pricey, which is why I decided to have a roommate.
The Streeterville area was still pretty sleepy when I moved here three years ago. Since then, there has been an incredible amount of development. New luxury apartments and condos are going up, several new restaurants, a brand new target and Whole Foods. Its become a great place for professionals who enjoy living downtown, but without the club crowds in River North.
There are a few buses that are near by that help get residents down to the loop. Also it's pretty easy to walk around and the cross walks are pedestrian friendly. I'm always able to get around by foot and buses/trains. Streeterville is a very safe neighborhood and I've never felt unsafe walking around at night. The streets are well lit.
Noise is not usually too big of an issue in this neighborhood; it's pretty quiet at night.
There are multiple grocery stores nearby for multiple choices. Also there are a bunch of great places to eat so one will not get bored with options.
While on the expensive end in Chicago, streeterville is safe, has all the necessities (look for apts near grocery stores if you don't have a car!!), is super close to school (and most feinberg students so convenient for socializing), and is super close proximity to restaurants and bars.
This building is located in the center of everything you could possibly need. Whole foods and Jewel within walking distance, easy to get to the lake front, and plenty of good restaurants and bars. The only down side is that it does not really have a "neighborhoody" feel.
Love how close we are to the medical school, makes going to class really easy. A lot of students live in Streeterville so it is very easy to hangout with friends. There are also a few coffee shops in the neighborhood that are very fun to study at!
