Good apartment for grad students, but a bit overpriced

All things considered, it's a very comfortable and nice apartment building. It's overpriced but it does include some nice amenities such as a gym, outdoor patio with grills and a pool, and the doormen are very friendly. Also, many students end up living here so it's convenient to be near friends and classmates. The parking garage is great if you have a car, but it's incredibly overpriced.

Great building, amazing social experience

E2 is the place to be for Kellogg students - the apartments are very nice, the location is great, and it feels like an upscale adult dorm building. All the amenities are very nice and it's great to have an apartment that is so pet-friendly. Maintenance service is very fast as well.

Great amenities and social life

E2 is the best place in Evanston for social life given the huge density of students in the building.

E2 Kellogg

While things go wrong in the building from time to time (e.g., internet outages), the building and amenities overall are great for Evanston. The staff is extremely responsive to issues that arise in specific apartments. Most Kellogg students also live here, which makes it easier to socialize in the cold winter months without leaving the building.

E2

Maintenance and building management is very responsive whenever you have an issue. The walls are highly insulated so you aren’t disrupted at night by neighbors. There is a basketball court inside the building and the outdoor patio is great for social events and gatherings. The only downside is the gym in the building is fairly small.

Very big Kellogg Community here

I am definitely overpaying for rent but for me it was worth it to be close to other Kellogg students

It’s expensive but nice enough. Lots of Kellogg people live here, which is a plus.

Where everything is happening!

Not the absolute nicest apartment in Etown but with so many Kellogg students it’s the place to be. Great indoor basketball courts and gym facilities and of course the pool in the summer is great!

Feels like a dorm for adults

E2 is great in that it is relatively new, nice apartments with a lot of natural light. Some of the bedrooms can be extremely tight so make sure to really look at room dimensions before moving in.

Most e2 residents are Kellogg students which is good and bad all at the same time. It is so fun to have your friends close by and makes it easy to make friends when you first move to Evanston. But having so many people in the same building also means there is very little privacy.

E2 - Expensive but not Overpriced

I’ve lived in E2 for two years, first in a 2F floor plan in the East tower and now in a 2A floor plan in the West tower. East tower is minorly more convenient but really doesn’t make a difference. I moved to a smaller unit because it shaved hundreds off of my rent (my first unit was $3600/mo including utilities). The complex isn’t cheap, but it’s very nice and well managed - and is actually cheaper than some of the newer options in Evanston. The pool is great, walk to campus is about 15 minutes, and the units are all very standard and nicely updated. Lots of Kellogg students live in the building so it makes social activities very convenient as well. Overall I think it has been worth the money and I would recommend it to anyone.

Downtown Evanston Reviews

Lots of apartments and family homes in the area. I always see someone riding their bike or walking throughout the day. It's a block from the police station, and only 2-3 blocks to downtown. Close to intercampus shuttle, 201 bus stop (3 blocks), and Dempster purple line (1.5 blocks). Nice area to live, quiet at night.
Downtown Evanston is a great place to live if you're a NU student. It's super easy to get to campus via either walking or the bus, and has convenient groceries within walking distance. The food scene is not the best, but good enough.
Evanston is the epitome of a college town, everything you need and most of what you want is within a 10 minute walk.
I really enjoy living in downtown Evanston. Everything that I need is within walking distance, and it is a 10-15 minute walk to my classes.
Safe, walkable area, even late at night depending on the streets you take. Great for convenience in terms of getting to campus, no car needed, access to many public transit options. You lose out in terms of cheap food options and fun nightlife - there are only a couple of bars open after 9PM on the weekends and for cheap food you're stuck with Chipotle or at best Tomate. But the lake and beach are within walking distance and you live close to other NU students making it well worth it for me.
Evanston really is a nice town. There's loads of food, both chains and otherwise, and a number of shops and things if you don't mind moving around a little. Driving in the greater Evanston area is not a lot of fun, I will say. I get the sense that the city doesn't much like the University and its constituents, and that the students don't always respect the city. It's not a perfect relationship, but it works. I can easily walk or take transit to class on the Evanston campus, and when I have class in Chicago I take transit, which usually takes more than an hour in the morning and close to an hour coming home.
Downtown Evanston is super cute! There are tons of restaurants and a handful of bars so I find that it offers a good bit of variety for the neighborhood size. There are street festivals, a great farmers market, summer concerts in the square and other community events I've enjoyed. Would highly recommend Evanston anyone who wants access to the city but a self-sufficient "urban burb" type neighborhood.
Pros: Great location near key Kellogg hangouts like World of Beer, Nevins, Five and Dime, Prairie Moon, etc. Also convenient to Bennison's Bakery! Great for late nights- can get home in < 5 minutes without ubering. Also near both Metra and L- ideal if you plan to spend some of your time in downtown Chicago.

Cons: Long walk from the Global hub. Closest grocery store is Whole Foods, a bit of a hike to TJ's and Jewel.
