DO NOT LIVE HERE
The manager and assistant manager at this property are genuinely the worst human beings I have ever met. The whole complex is uninhabitable and unsafe to live in. They will lie to your face and cover up major health issues in order to make as much money off of residents as possible. I will have lost $7500 to University Ridge after living in one of their BLACK MOLD INFESTED UNITS for 10 days.
Long story short, at move-in the unit looked safe and fine, but less than a week later saw black mold start to grow on the walls, carpets, ceilings, etc. My brother felt like he couldn’t breathe after less than 8 hours of being in the unit. After talking with a lawyer, I know there are at least 3 other residents or past residents at University Ridge who were hospitalized due to black mold exposure. I presented extensive proof of mold and water damage which would lead to mold growth and paid to buy out of my lease 10 days after moving in. When I check on my unit to see if it was fixed after reporting these issues, I find (and take a video of) their “maintenance team” and unlicensed contractor actively painting over mold. They then lie to my face and tell me it isn’t mold, even though less than 72 hours had passed since I first reported the mold, and it is impossible to even test for species of mold in that amount of time. When I told them this, they refused to provide any sort of evidence that they actually performed testing. In order to get out of this unsafe situation, I will have paid $7500 including move-in fees, buyout fee, and rent for 60 days after notice of buyout. If you are on the property long enough to develop serious health issues, you will have medical bills on top of that.
This complex preys on students, families, and people of low-income knowing that they can’t afford the legal fees to get out of their unsafe housing. I guarantee the people working in the leasing office would not feel safe living in their own buildings knowing what goes on behind the scenes, and I hope they have trouble sleeping at night knowing the ways in which they have hurt the people living in this complex.

Older property but good value
Apartment is clearly old with mediocre management but the area is nice and the unit is pretty large given the price

Worst Apartment; Do not move here
Mice, roaches, spiders. Literally worst experience ever, please never move here. Yes it cheap but that's about it. The "gym" has maybe one working treadmill on a good day, the gates are pretty much always broken, if you drive in at night you will literally see hordes of roaches just teeming across the parking lot. For the love of God do not move here! Worst experience of my life. 0 stars, would not even recommend to my worst enemy.

Generally good
Reasonable rent. Decent properties and facilities. The unit configuration/layout is generally good. The buildings are relatively old. Surrounded by the woods so awesome environment, but could be bothered by occasional bug/pest issues. The neighborhood is generally safe. Driving distance to Duke Law.

Decent and affordable
The property is an apartment complex with upwards of 20 buildings. It is quiet forested and can feel pretty quiet. There are a lot of families and other students that live here. The units are noticeably old and the amenities aren't super nice but it is expected given the price and how large each unit is.

So spacious and good location
I have enjoyed living here so far. My apartment is huge and I think it is a good value for the price I am paying. The amenities are decent and functional. The area is pretty quiet and close to many shops and restaurants. The only downside is that the exterior of the buildings are not kept up with frequently, and security is quite lax.

Duke Forest Student
The apartment locates in the duke forest, providing a safe and quiet environment. Sam's Club and Super Target are very near, which makes the shopping very convenient.

Below average
Not a great experience, but not completely terrible. I do not spend much time at my apartment which is good but if I had I probably wouldn't like it as much. It does have amenities like a pool and a small gym but I don't care for those much.

Great, affordable place
University Ridge is extremely affordable and the management is very responsive. The units are older but are slowly being renovated. Maintenance is great at fulfilling requests and up keeping the units. The complex is quiet but in a great location. I’m 6 minutes from the law school and 10 from downtown.
