Not the best option

It is expensive, and it's not quality. The management group is too relaxed, majority of the time there are homeless people charging their phones on the property, and always some kind of marijuana smell. No cameras in the building, usually a monthly problem (emailed to all residents) with somebody unauthorized entering the building.

I have hard wood floors, but majority of the apartments are dingy-carpet.

Paying for location and managment

The Fitzgerald is fantastic for proximity to campus and being a well maintained and relatively new building. However, this convienence and quality comes at a high cost for rent. If you can afford it, there is no better option in the University of Baltimore area.

Its great

The Fitz is a great place to live while studying at ubalt. Its so close to campus. While it is on the expensive side I feel it balances out since we get access to a gym, amazon lockers, 24/7 security, a pool, theater, and other rec areas. I would recommend this place to anybody.

The Fitz

Love my apartment and love the building as a whole. Only negative is the price. It’s only gone up since I’ve lived here for the two years. My renewal offer was $1835 a month and I couldn’t do that. Other than that the building is awesome. If you can make the price work it’s worth it

Close to hospital and everything else

This apartment is about a 10 min drive from the hospital and about 10-15 min from all the major neighborhoods in Baltimore as well. There's a lot of good food options around and it's close to the light rail and train station. Depending on which apartment unit you are in, you may be facing the train tracks and light rail which you get used to very quickly and becomes background noise. Beautiful apartment with responsive maintenance staff.

Good place for young professionals

The Fitz is super conveniently located next to Penn Station and has easy access to the 83. It's excellent for dual-career young professional couples (I am one half of one of these). Amenities like concierge and in-house gym save you time, and commuting in two different directions is easy. There is even a pool (a bit overkill imo). There are common areas for socializing with regular "community" events. I have met some neighbors at these events, and even made friends with another couple. The only downsides are that the area is OK but not great for restaurants/bars, and that you pay for all the convenience and fancy amenities in terms of a rent premium. If you can afford it / are willing to pay for it, it's a great place to live. And, you could definitely do worse for the same amount of money in the immediate area (Fitz is a much newer building than most everything else around here). Oh, and if your apartment looks out toward the Light Rail station, you will get passing train noises through the night - we got used to it quickly and it no longer bothers us, but if you are a light sleeper, pick another side of the building.

Expensive, but overall worth the price

Great amenities, great management, good value. Close to light rail, Penn Station, and Bolt Bus stops.

Avoid the north side because of light rail and freight train noises. Some locations do not have good sun light. Some walls are thinner than others.

Gorgeous, but pricey

The Fitzgerald is a gorgeous building architecturally, situated in beautiful and active Mt Vernon. The amenities include concierge service, a pool (open roughly four months), a zen garden, multiple lounges, and a state of the art gym. There really is no downside to living in this mid-rise building, other than the pricing. The dollar per square ft, is quite high, and one would expect with the price you pay, to get a little more bang for your buck. It is recommended that when considering renting at this great building, do your homework prior to visiting. There are many "side deals" that individuals can negotiate, that will not be offered otherwise. If you are considering living on the train side - mention the noise. The proximity to the train station and light rail is extremely convenient, however as to be imagined the noise cannot be avoided. When mentioned there is often a discount provided for the noise that is not extended to everyone. Other than the pricing and the "side deals" management is effective. The complex is cleaned daily, and maintenance often provides same-day servicing. Its a wonderful environment for anyone interested in living in an active part of charm city.

Mid-Town Belvedere Reviews

There isn’t too much near by in comparison to other locations in Baltimore, but it is in the middle of the city so it is easy to get places. There isn’t a grocery store nearby, which is probably the biggest con.
UMd Police presence is fairly high, so the area feels reasonably safe. Fairly well lit, and fairly heavily traveled given its location with UB and UMd.
Have only been offered crack once in two years.
It’s a really nice area and is walking distance to a lot of different things. But once you go outside the area it can get a little sketchy
Good bar/restaurant scene, right next to the train/bus station. Some crime but can't help that.
Love how historic it is
Midtown/ Mt Vernon is a very active neighborhood in Baltimore. Artscape is held annually here, and there is regularly activities going on. It very common to see people out and about at all hours. Its situated around several colleges and universities. The real con to the neighborhood, is the lack of viable options for grocery shopping. You must travel to another neighborhood to shop which means more often than not you need to utilize a car. Zipcar is available in many locations.
Mt Vernon is a safe neighborhood with some of the best bars/restaurants of Baltimore (including Brewers Art, The Owl Bar, etc.). It really "feels" like a neighborhood. Main problem: no decent grocery stores on walking distance. Eddies is a disgrace of low quality produce and whole foods-like prices, so you really need a car to do grocery shopping.
This is a fairly safe and clean neighborhood. I checked the Sun's murder and rat complaint maps, and this area has little of either. Eddies of Mount Vernon is an OK grocery store, but I wouldn't go there for everything.
