Galleria

Galleria's a hidden gem! Pro's: cheaper than other common Kellogg buildings, super spacious (great for hosting), big windows and high ceilings, new appliances despite building age, parking included. Con's: no amenities, no gym / common space / pool, parking uncovered.

One of the best spots in Evanston

The Evanston Galleria has the best location right in downtown Evanston, making it easy to get to bars, restaurants, and grocery stores. The apartments within the building are very similar in styling, with a nice kitchen, high ceilings, great natural light, and well laid-out space. They are on the larger side of Evanston apartments. Finishes are relatively modern, and the building has much less of a "hotel" feel than some other large complexes nearby. There are a number of closets within the unit for storage, plus in-unit laundry.
We generally don't hear our neighbors, but the wall adjacent to the hallway is rather thin so sometimes we hear hallway noise as people come and go. We occasionally hear what's going on in the street, but it has not been a big issue. Also, sound does travel throughout the whole unit because walls don't go all the way to the ceiling between the bedroom and kitchen.
The building doesn't have any real amenities as compared with others in the area (no gym, meeting space), but there are 2 gyms within a block. Most (maybe all) units come with an uncovered but secure parking spot included, though individual landlords could in theory charge extra. We haven't had any problems with building maintenance, or with our landlords, but that could vary across units.

Love the space!

Tall ceilings and generally big living space is awesome. Only downside is each is individually owned so you have to luck out with your landlord / property manager to be quick in getting stuff fixed. You may have to play phone tag with like 3 people to get other work done in the apt. Overall love it though, but definitely keep expectations low for service.

Awesome location!

The Galleria is a great location! Close to everything in Evanston and a few minutes closer to campus than most of the other Kellogg-heavy residential buildings. It's a historic building and is known as a Kellogg favorite. Both the CTA and Metra stops are on Church St, just a few blocks away. The parking deck is great, and being in the same building as Bat 17 is a bonus!

Great location, large space for $

Galleria has been a great place to live. The location and proximity to downtown restaurants, bars, target, the new collectivo(!), and other apartment buildings is unbeatable. The apartments are large and spacious, and the high ceilings are amazing. Lots of Kellogg students, but quieter than some of the larger apartment buildings.

Great location, nice space - limited amenities

The Galleria is mostly great to live in. It is a majority Kellogg couples, and there is a community (but not as strong as other places due to a lack of any common spaces/amenities).

Best things: high ceilings, newer interior than many condos, easy code entry for residents and guests (no doormen), individual control on AC temp, common spaces are kept very clean, located in the center of downtown (right near Target, 24hr fitness, and EAC).

Downsides: radiator system is old and makes dripping and very loud clanking noises during the winter (not just when it starts, but all the time), 1 elevator breaks every other week, and the attached parking is on the roof and uncovered.

Great Building, Limited Amenities

The Galleria is great! Apartments are nice and spacious and the location couldn't be better. Of all the buildings I've seen in Evanston, I'm very glad to have ended up in the Galleria. Only downside is it's a bit of an older building so limited amenities. Bathrooms are a bit small and closet space is limited as well.

Beautiful loft apartment

Not many amenities (no gym, common room, attendant, etc.), but beautiful apartment building in the heart of downtown Evanston. More of a students with JVs vibe here.

Downtown Evanston Reviews

Lots of apartments and family homes in the area. I always see someone riding their bike or walking throughout the day. It's a block from the police station, and only 2-3 blocks to downtown. Close to intercampus shuttle, 201 bus stop (3 blocks), and Dempster purple line (1.5 blocks). Nice area to live, quiet at night.
Downtown Evanston is a great place to live if you're a NU student. It's super easy to get to campus via either walking or the bus, and has convenient groceries within walking distance. The food scene is not the best, but good enough.
Evanston is the epitome of a college town, everything you need and most of what you want is within a 10 minute walk.
I really enjoy living in downtown Evanston. Everything that I need is within walking distance, and it is a 10-15 minute walk to my classes.
Safe, walkable area, even late at night depending on the streets you take. Great for convenience in terms of getting to campus, no car needed, access to many public transit options. You lose out in terms of cheap food options and fun nightlife - there are only a couple of bars open after 9PM on the weekends and for cheap food you're stuck with Chipotle or at best Tomate. But the lake and beach are within walking distance and you live close to other NU students making it well worth it for me.
Evanston really is a nice town. There's loads of food, both chains and otherwise, and a number of shops and things if you don't mind moving around a little. Driving in the greater Evanston area is not a lot of fun, I will say. I get the sense that the city doesn't much like the University and its constituents, and that the students don't always respect the city. It's not a perfect relationship, but it works. I can easily walk or take transit to class on the Evanston campus, and when I have class in Chicago I take transit, which usually takes more than an hour in the morning and close to an hour coming home.
Downtown Evanston is super cute! There are tons of restaurants and a handful of bars so I find that it offers a good bit of variety for the neighborhood size. There are street festivals, a great farmers market, summer concerts in the square and other community events I've enjoyed. Would highly recommend Evanston anyone who wants access to the city but a self-sufficient "urban burb" type neighborhood.
Pros: Great location near key Kellogg hangouts like World of Beer, Nevins, Five and Dime, Prairie Moon, etc. Also convenient to Bennison's Bakery! Great for late nights- can get home in < 5 minutes without ubering. Also near both Metra and L- ideal if you plan to spend some of your time in downtown Chicago.

Cons: Long walk from the Global hub. Closest grocery store is Whole Foods, a bit of a hike to TJ's and Jewel.
