Westview

The apartment is large, includes most utilities (except Electric), includes free parking, and is on the edge of North Campus (plenty of TCAT and walkable to campus). The price is good, given other apartments in Ithaca. It is in a quiet area just past North Campus and the building is mostly brick and concrete so you won't have any noise complaints.

That being said, the apartment is in an older building, there are sometimes leaks if it rains a lot, the furniture is old and needs to be replaced, and there is no thermostat in the apartment.

First off the property manager is super nice and easygoing. My apartment is very roomy - the living room is huge and there’s a small dining room I can use as an office. The heat is paid for and works great. The internet also works really well, I’ve never had an outage or disruptions to my work. I only gave a 9 because it is more removed from other students and amenities, but I have a car and and I moved here with my fiancé and needed a pet friendly apartment. Parking is free which is rare in Ithaca!

My partner and I like living at Westview; we didn't want to be in collegetown or at CTT, where we heard that it can be noisy. Rent is definitely lower at Westview, which reflects the fact that the apartments are not as updated. However, several do have fireplaces, and we really like our neighbors. The walk to class is very convenient - it's a pretty flat walk and takes about 20 minutes, which helps keep you sane during weeks when it's hard to get to the gym. Laundry is coin-operated, $1.25 for wash loads and $1.00 for dryer loads.

I really like living on North Campus; as a couple, we weren't necessarily looking for the CTT "scene," so we liked the atmosphere, the quiet, and the open spaces being at Westview. The commute was very manageable - pro tip, you can take the 30 bus as well as the 32. The 30 bus doesn't show up on the Ithaca Transit app, but it's just across the parking lot by the Congregational church. Since the walk isn't on a road, it doesn't show up on Google as an option.

Please note the below refers to the Westview APARTMENTS and not Westview TERRACE

Pros: Nearly everything is included in the rent, quiet atmosphere, hardwood floors throughout the apartment, and a working fireplace

Cons: 25-30 minute walk from Sage, buses run infrequently, appliances are old, laundry is communal with only 2 washers/2 dryers for all residents and you have to go outside to access the laundry room
