Forest Plaza
Forest Plaza has been a great apartment for me. I was looking for an affordable single apartment near school that my partner would feel comfortable staying at when visiting. I like having utilities included in the rent and having so many classmates in the building. I do miss having laundry in my apartment but it's in the building at least.

Forest Plaza is the place to be
Forest Plaza is a great place for an MBA. It is very close to Ross and Central Campus, as well as plenty of restaurants and nightlife. Also the majority of the residents are also MBAs, so there is definitely a collegiate feel about the building.

Forest Plaza one bedroom
This apartment building from the 1920s has lots of charm. It is in a great location (on S. Forest Ave between South U and Hill Street)--a 5 minute walk to Ross, a 12 minute walk to the School of Public health, a 25 minute walk to Main Street. The building only has studios and one bedrooms, and I have a 720 sq ft one bedroom--very spacious and comfortable. Tenants are quiet but I often hear noise from parties at nearby fraternities/sororities, especially on game days and during rush. There are two washer/dryers for the building on the first floor ($1.50 for washer, $1.50 for dryer); other than that, there are no other amenities available. Maintenance is prompt and friendly, however, the Campus Management administrative staff is the WORST--unfriendly, unhelpful, and inflexible (especially their front receptionist, Jodi). Since the building is old, there have been many days when the water has to be shut off in the entire building for repairs--administration will send an email in advance to allow you to plan accordingly. There are two options for parking--$80 to park in an unpaved, gravel lot behind the building where your car falls victim to birds, leaves, and branches or $100 for a covered parking spot in a garage connected to the building. As with all places in AA, the landlord had the upper hand and charges outrageous rent and parking fees because they know they can. While the building is in a great location, the value of what I'm paying in comparison to when I lived in other cities is not great.

Location and Fun and all the Essentials for School
Forest Plaza is an OOOOOOLD old building, but it's been kept up to satisfaction, and all of its quirks become quaint to you after a while. I LOVE my apartment and love the location and friends that I have in my program that live there. It's truly like a dorm for Ross MBAs, which is great.
The management company is OK -- not my favorites but definitely not the worst I've ever had. They take pretty good care of the building and are VERY responsive to issues with the units. There are a few things I'd like to be better, but overall no major complaints.

Huge Studio Apartments
The "Studio" at Forest Plaza should not be considered as such, it is MUCH bigger and actually has doors that close between the main room and kitchen/dining area, as well as between the main room and walk in closet that leads to the bathroom. Calling this a studio instead of a 1BR is underselling it quite a bit, and in my opinion you can't beat the proximity to Ross and South U at this price.

FPP
I've loved the convenience of Forest Plaza. It is a quick walk to Ross, CCRB, and the diag. I wasn't too sure about living alone, but the building is full of Ross students! It's a great mix of having my own space, but neighbors to hang out with whenever I want. It is an older building so it does not have the amenities of a newer building (gym), but my studio is really spacious. The management company is mediocre, but I have not had any issue they have not been responsive in fixing.

Great value close to Ross, lots of MBAs
Forest Plaza has been a haven for MBAs for several years - just two blocks to Ross and set back from the road, away from nearby fraternities and sororities. Given it is a historic property, the apartments and fixtures are not newly renovated, but sizeable 1BR and Studios are available for ~$1000 or less, so it's an easy tradeoff. Most apartments have lots of closet space, large windows, and thick walls. The building is quiet, mostly filled with graduate students and older tenants, and has two elevators that reach the five floors. Two washers and two dryers service the entire building, so some may prefer to pay for a laundry service. Parking spaces are available, but preference is given to existing residents; expect to wait a year to secure a spot. Three Zipcars are located across the street in the garage, and you can pick up groceries at nearby Trader Joe's or Whole Foods within an hour. Overall, a really convenient location that's close to Ross and South U.
