Axis review

Axis is a nice place to live for a student. Nice decor, gym, pool, and lounge. The rooftop view is especially nice. However, the elevators are AWFUL. Wait times can be up to 20 minutes and renovations have been happening for years. If you do live here, it is best to live on a lower floor because you will have to take the stairs to go down several times.

Beautiful building, great amenities, questionable elevators

My experience with the building and the staff has been great. Front desk is helpful and will take large packages up for you. Elevators can be slow at times but are getting better. Beautiful views! Rent is reasonable for the area, and I would choose to live here again!

Great for what you're paying

Axis is overall a great place to live in. The rooms are nice, the staff is wonderful, and the location is fantastic. Axis' main edge has to be the amenities. The fitness center includes a decent gym, an indoor pool, a nice study space, sauna and steamroom, laundry room (though the machines aren't very good and you have to pay), and free coffee. However, the best amenity has to be the sky club/deck. Great view and great location to hang out with friends. My sole complaint would have to be the elevators. They break down constantly and can cause long wait times.

Axis- Great Amenities

This apartment is aesthetically pleasing and there's ample room in a two bedroom. The gym has wonderful facilities and the roof has a fabulous view of the city, equipped with grills, fridges, and a fire pit! However, the elevators have been under maintenance for years and are extremely slow.

You Get What You Pay For

So rent at Axis is definitely pricey (in the eastern condo tower, at least), but it is a spacious, beautiful building in a safe neighborhood. Restricted access to all of the floors in our tower adds to the feeling of security. The management is responsive, everyone is dog-friendly, and the condo is stunning! Overall, I'm getting what I expect for the price that I'm paying.

Nice place BUT thin walls and terrible elevators

Lived here about four months. Not exaggerating when I say all the time at least ONE of the four elevators is out. They are now planning a major rehab of the elevators so we will only have three-isa of the four for about a whole year. It's a 60 story building.

Everyone I talk to says the walls are thin.
That being said - location is great and I like my place well-enough.

SUPER pet friendly. Seems like everyone has a dog.

Great building

I love Axis the management is very prompt and accessible. They have great amenities and upkeep the common areas very well.
The maintenance & front door staff are all great and very helpful too.
The laundry machines could use an upgrade & elevators sometimes take a while to arrive. But in the grander scheme of things its a great place!

Streeterville Reviews

Perfect location for Feinberg, almost feels like a small slice of a college town because so many of your neighbors will be students, residents, nurses, etc at the hospital. You do get sirens fairly often depending on where you live since the emergency room is very close. The neighborhood doesn't have too many restaurants/bars but it is walking distance to River North and Gold Coast and the rest of the city is easily accessed by public transport. Much safer than most neighborhoods in Chicago.
Streeterville is a very nice neighborhood. There are plenty of parks and grocery stores. There is some late night crime due to the location downtown and close to the beach, but overall nothing worse than anywhere else.

There are some more expensive restaurants and fast food places. Navy Pier attracts a lot of tourists and they can be annoying to navigate around.
I enjoy living in Streeterville since it's near many of Chicago attractions without feeling overwhelming like in the Loop. I am able to walk around safely at night and I like going jogging in Millennium Park. My biggest complaint would be the lack of greenery in the area and how the city can feel a little bit insulating at times. Public transportation is great. This area is pricey, which is why I decided to have a roommate.
The Streeterville area was still pretty sleepy when I moved here three years ago. Since then, there has been an incredible amount of development. New luxury apartments and condos are going up, several new restaurants, a brand new target and Whole Foods. Its become a great place for professionals who enjoy living downtown, but without the club crowds in River North.
There are a few buses that are near by that help get residents down to the loop. Also it's pretty easy to walk around and the cross walks are pedestrian friendly. I'm always able to get around by foot and buses/trains. Streeterville is a very safe neighborhood and I've never felt unsafe walking around at night. The streets are well lit.
Noise is not usually too big of an issue in this neighborhood; it's pretty quiet at night.
There are multiple grocery stores nearby for multiple choices. Also there are a bunch of great places to eat so one will not get bored with options.
While on the expensive end in Chicago, streeterville is safe, has all the necessities (look for apts near grocery stores if you don't have a car!!), is super close to school (and most feinberg students so convenient for socializing), and is super close proximity to restaurants and bars.
This building is located in the center of everything you could possibly need. Whole foods and Jewel within walking distance, easy to get to the lake front, and plenty of good restaurants and bars. The only down side is that it does not really have a "neighborhoody" feel.
Love how close we are to the medical school, makes going to class really easy. A lot of students live in Streeterville so it is very easy to hangout with friends. There are also a few coffee shops in the neighborhood that are very fun to study at!
