I've got a great deal - can't complain!

I moved into Axis at the beginning of its change of ownership, rebrand, and renovations, so I'm grandfathered in to a pretty great deal. If I wasn't paying so little (compared to rent rates now), I probably wouldn't be as happy with this building as I am. My unit is a corner unit and everything was brand new when I moved in. My only complaints are that the heating/cooling units are super inefficient (and expensive) and the elevators can be painfully slow. Front desk management (especially Steve) is great. Maintenance staff is incredible and has always fixed any issued I've reported within 24 hours. Management is okay but we seem to have somebody new on board every six months. The rooftop is unbeatable, with the exception of the grills which sometimes malfunction. The gym, pool, sauna, and steam room are all amazing. Overall I'm very happy living at Axis.

Axis Lofts

We live in the Loft Tower of Axis. Our apartment is GREAT, lots of square footage. However we are in a wierd corner of the building that doesn't allow a lot of light in. So we have a ton of lamps.

The apartment building itself is good. The sun deck, pool and winter garden are nice. This summer they have offered free yoga classes to the residents. if i were to request anything, I would say I wish there was grass near us to brighten up the sidewalk.

The management office is average. Nothing too spectacular. Every so often they will host small events or promos from local businesses in the building,. but they usually do not advertise it ahead of time for us to p accordingly.

Overall, this apartment is good. We are happy!

Great amenities, mediocre apartment.

Axis amenities are absolutely amazing between the rooftop/gym, but the apartments themselves lack quality. You cannot control the air conditioning temp and it is very expensive. The walls are extremely thin and you can hear your neighbors. Too many loud pets. Not worth the price.

Quiet with a great view but be warned about the Elevators

I live in an apartment that faces the lake and it's lovely. The amenities are nice and newly upgraded. The entire building has been going through upgrade in the past year and they have made the place look a lot better than before. The only complaint I have about the building is that the elevators crap out more often than they should and as a result people will have to wait at least 20 minutes to leave the building (or take the stairs. With 60 floors in the building that can get old very quickly). Overall, I would say that this place has good value for location, however, this area in general is pretty pricey.

Have your nickles and dimes ready

I lived here in 2012 - they may have done more renovations since then. I live in an un-renovated unit so my rent wasn't as high as some of the other units in the building and I actually liked my cute little studio, but I hated the coin laundry, and the fact that the gym within the building wasn't included in my rent. Overall, it was just okay.

Perfect location for Feinberg, almost feels like a small slice of a college town because so many of your neighbors will be students, residents, nurses, etc at the hospital. You do get sirens fairly often depending on where you live since the emergency room is very close. The neighborhood doesn't have too many restaurants/bars but it is walking distance to River North and Gold Coast and the rest of the city is easily accessed by public transport. Much safer than most neighborhoods in Chicago.
Streeterville is a very nice neighborhood. There are plenty of parks and grocery stores. There is some late night crime due to the location downtown and close to the beach, but overall nothing worse than anywhere else.

There are some more expensive restaurants and fast food places. Navy Pier attracts a lot of tourists and they can be annoying to navigate around.
I enjoy living in Streeterville since it's near many of Chicago attractions without feeling overwhelming like in the Loop. I am able to walk around safely at night and I like going jogging in Millennium Park. My biggest complaint would be the lack of greenery in the area and how the city can feel a little bit insulating at times. Public transportation is great. This area is pricey, which is why I decided to have a roommate.
The Streeterville area was still pretty sleepy when I moved here three years ago. Since then, there has been an incredible amount of development. New luxury apartments and condos are going up, several new restaurants, a brand new target and Whole Foods. Its become a great place for professionals who enjoy living downtown, but without the club crowds in River North.
There are a few buses that are near by that help get residents down to the loop. Also it's pretty easy to walk around and the cross walks are pedestrian friendly. I'm always able to get around by foot and buses/trains. Streeterville is a very safe neighborhood and I've never felt unsafe walking around at night. The streets are well lit.
Noise is not usually too big of an issue in this neighborhood; it's pretty quiet at night.
There are multiple grocery stores nearby for multiple choices. Also there are a bunch of great places to eat so one will not get bored with options.
While on the expensive end in Chicago, streeterville is safe, has all the necessities (look for apts near grocery stores if you don't have a car!!), is super close to school (and most feinberg students so convenient for socializing), and is super close proximity to restaurants and bars.
This building is located in the center of everything you could possibly need. Whole foods and Jewel within walking distance, easy to get to the lake front, and plenty of good restaurants and bars. The only down side is that it does not really have a "neighborhoody" feel.
Love how close we are to the medical school, makes going to class really easy. A lot of students live in Streeterville so it is very easy to hangout with friends. There are also a few coffee shops in the neighborhood that are very fun to study at!
